Crypto investment products recorded strong inflows last week, showing renewed interest from institutional investors. Total inflows reached approximately $1.1 billion, marking the strongest weekly performance since January.

Bitcoin led the market with around $871 million in inflows, confirming its dominant position among crypto assets. This surge came as Bitcoin price recovered above $70,000 and briefly moved past $73,000, despite ongoing volatility in the broader market.

The increase in inflows is largely attributed to improving investor sentiment. Factors such as easing US inflation data and reduced geopolitical tensions have encouraged investors to take on more risk. This has supported demand for regulated crypto investment products like exchange-traded products.

Ethereum also saw a recovery in inflows, attracting nearly $196 million after several weeks of outflows. However, it still remains in a negative position for the year overall. Other assets such as XRP recorded moderate inflows, while Solana experienced slight outflows.

Interestingly, there was also activity from short Bitcoin investors, indicating that some traders are still positioning for potential downside despite the recent recovery.

Regionally, the United States dominated inflows, accounting for the majority of the total. This was mainly driven by strong demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs. Other countries like Germany, Canada, and Switzerland recorded smaller but positive inflows.

Overall, this trend highlights continued institutional confidence in crypto markets, even as short-term sentiment remains mixed. It also shows that large investors are still actively accumulating through regulated financial products.

Bitcoin dips to $70.6K, oil rises after US announces Hormuz blockade

Bitcoin fell as low as $70,623 on Sunday after the US announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following failed peace talks with Iran.

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) initially fell 1.9% to $71,686 after US President Donald Trump confirmed the blockade in a post to Truth Social on Sunday, adding that peace talks collapsed because Iran refused to end its nuclear program — the only issue that “really mattered.”

Bitcoin dipped further to $70,623 as the US futures markets opened late on Sunday, with oil shooting up 9.5% to $105 per barrel within half an hour of the market open, with Bitcoin down 2.7% over the day at the time of writing.

The US-Iran dispute over control of the Strait of Hormuz — which handles one-fifth of global oil trade — has caused significant disruption in the financial markets over the past six weeks, particularly in oil markets, which have experienced their highest volatility since Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022.

In addition to the ceasefire announced on Tuesday, Iran wanted the US to pay for war reparations and to unfreeze blocked Iranian financial assets.

Trump didn’t directly address those requests in the Truth Social post, instead blaming the fallout on Iran’s reluctance to end its nuclear weapons program.

He also labeled Iran’s use of mines on the waterway and demands for tolls as “world extortion,” ordering the US Navy to block any vessels that paid Iran and to destroy the mines.

Oil prices have risen above the $100 mark after US President Donald Trump ordered a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. But Bitcoin miners say their industry is largely sheltered from oil-related woes as much of the rest of the world panics about fuel prices.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude rose to just short of $105 on April 13, 2026, up over 8% from Sunday.

For the Bitcoin mining industry, oil prices provide only a “modest tailwind,” Raphael Zagury, CEO of the crypto mining firm Elektron Energy, told DL News.

“[Oil prices] can ease energy costs in some regions and improve margins at the edge, but it’s not the main driver,” Zagury said.
Bitcoin prices climbed last week on news of a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, but began to tumble back towards the $70,000 mark after the collapse of peace talks over the weekend.
