Bitcoin’s price is down 26% since January, and further difficulty swings hinge on its recovery.This weekend, at block height 959616, the network’s difficulty fell by 0.74%, making it slightly easier to mine a block. Bitcoin’s difficulty is a self-adjusting metric that keeps the average time between blocks near ten minutes, ensuring a consistent issuance schedule despite changes in total mining power.With the latest adjustment, the network has now recorded nine difficulty reductions and six increases in 2026, spanning block heights 931392 through 959616. Across 28,224 blocks from Jan. 8 through July 25, the average adjustment came to 6.4 percentage points.

That’s a fairly large swing when you consider what the system is trying to do: make only the corrections needed to keep block production hovering around one every ten minutes, especially as mining power rises and falls.

$GWEI’s Open Interest nearly doubled to $14.85 million, AMBCrypto’s derivatives analysis showed. That signaled fresh capital entering $GWEI futures markets, and the shift already showed up in the token’s price action.

On top of that, market positioning favored the bulls, too.

The Long/Short Ratio showed long positions held roughly 57% of total Open Interest, per Coinalyze data on the 1-day timeframe.

The gap was not extreme, but it pointed to improving confidence after the sell-off. Rising Open Interest alongside higher prices could support the case for new buyers driving the recovery, not short-term profit takers.

BitMart will shut down its crypto trading platform through an orderly wind-down process after determining that current operating conditions, market circumstances and its long-term strategy no longer support continuing operations, the company said this week.

In a statement, the exchange said it will gradually stop accepting new users, suspend fiat and crypto deposits, prevent new futures positions and spot orders, and phase out copy trading, grid trading, API trading and other automated services beginning July 26, 2026.

Trading across spot and futures markets will cease on Aug. 26, while investment products including Earn, staking, lending and Launchpad will be retired separately. The exchange expects to officially cease platform operations on Jan. 31, 2027, although users will temporarily retain access to their accounts for withdrawals and historical records afterward.

Users are advised to withdraw assets as early as possible by completing KYC verification, closing open positions and submitting withdrawal requests before the Aug. 26 deadline.

The firm said withdrawals will remain available but may be subject to identity verification, blockchain risk analysis, Travel Rule compliance, sanctions screening and source-of-funds checks, with processing times potentially extended during periods of heavy demand.
