On March 3rd, the Aave Chan Initiative (ACI), the core governance team of the Aave protocol, announced its closure and departure from AAVE.

This is the second major contributor to leave within two weeks—following February 20th, the development team of the Aave V3 codebase, BGD Labs, announced its departure.


Following the announcement, the price of the AAVE token fell by over 11%.

As the most successful DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) in DeFi history, this leading DeFi entity with a TVL of nearly $27 billion is experiencing profound internal turmoil.


The seeds of this crisis were sown as early as last December.

At that time, without governance discussion, Aave Labs changed the transaction aggregator on its front-end interface from ParaSwap to CoW Swap. Transaction fees that originally flowed to the DAO's treasury were instead deposited into Aave Labs' accounts.

 In response to the criticism, Aave founder Stani Kulechov stated that the front-end interface was built by Labs, so the revenue naturally went to Labs; smart contracts and liquidity pools belonged to the DAO. This explanation was legally sound, but it sparked discontent within the community.

To quell the controversy, Aave Labs submitted a proposal in February titled "Aave Will Win." The proposal primarily included: requesting the DAO to approve approximately $51 million for V4 development; in exchange, all future revenue from Aave-branded products would go to the DAO, and Aave V4 would be established as the sole technological foundation, gradually phasing out V3.

PayPal has expanded access to its stablecoin PayPal USD (PYUSD) to 70 markets, allowing users worldwide to send, hold, and receive the token while enabling faster, lower-cost global transactions
On Tuesday, payments giant PayPal announced that its USD-pegged stablecoin, PYUSD, will be available to users in 70 markets worldwide following its expansion into 68 new countries this month.

The fintech launched the stablecoin in August 2023 after initially pausing development due to scrutiny of PayPal’s issuance partner, Paxos. That same year, PayPal received a subpoena from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) related to its stablecoin.

As crypto regulation gained momentum and financial watchdogs loosened their grip under the Trump Administration, the Commission concluded its 16-month investigation into PYUSD without enforcement action in February 2025. Since then, PYUSD’s total market capitalization has reached $4.1 billion, a fivefold increase over the past year.

Previously, only customers in the US and the UK had access to the PYUSD. However, the latest expansion has made PYUSD available to users across multiple global regions, including Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America
This includes Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Meanwhile, users in the remaining markets will have access to PYUSD in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin holds steady at $74,000 as traders turn cautious before Fed meeting


Bitcoin BTC$73,051.31 consolidated following Tuesday's jump to $76,000 alongside a 33% drop in daily trading volume to $36.9 billion.

The largest cryptocurrency has added just 0.4% since midnight UTC after bouncing off $73,500 as it looks to establish a new level of support ahead of a potential bullish breakout.

While analysts predicted a fast move to $80,000 after $72,000 was taken out, price action has actually been much more measured. Traders with long positions took profits and those who were forced out of short positions are waiting on the sidelines to reenter.

Volatility has also retreated in commodities gold, silver and crude oil, with the war in Iran continuing to put complete risk-on mode on hold.

U.S. stocks are beginning to experience a period of prolonged upside; Nasdaq 100 futures are up 0.66% since midnight UTC, followed by the S&P 500, which has gained 0.5%.

Investors will be keeping a close eye on Wednesday's Federal Reserve meeting because although a rate pause is all but certain, increased inflation numbers due to the surge in oil prices and weaker job numbers in the U.S. could influence sentiment at the post-decision press conference.

Derivatives positioning

Growth in bitcoin futures open interest (OI) on major exchanges has stalled alongside slightly negative fund rates. That's a sign that traders are not adding new bullish positions and bears are getting a slight edge.

Ark Labs Raises $5.2M for Bitcoin Finance

Ark Labs, developer of open programmable finance tools, has raised $5.2 million in a seed round led by Tether. The round also included Ego Death Capital, Epoch VC, Lion26, Sats Ventures and Contribution Capital, with additional participation from Anchorage Digital and former PayPal executive Ralph Ho.

The funding brings total institutional support for the company to more than $7.7 million, following an earlier pre-seed round backed by Draper Associates, Fulgur Ventures and Axiom Capital.

Ark Labs is building infrastructure for programmable transactions on Bitcoin. Its core product, Arkade, is an execution layer that allows wallets, fintech platforms and financial institutions to run instant and conditional payments. The system has been live since October 2025, with early partners already working on payments, lending and cross-network settlement.

The new capital will be used to grow the team, improve developer tools and support partner integration.
