Sentora reported that $1.68 billion in net outflows left exchange wallets over the past seven days, a move the firm described on X as "continued accumulation into cold storage and institutional custody." Traders and portfolio managers said the flows help explain why Bitcoin steadied above the broadly watched $70,000 level even after a choppy stretch of trading.

The market's immediate reaction was muted relief rather than exuberance. Bitcoin traded in the low $70,000s as the week closed, and market participants pointed to shrinking exchange inventories as one reason price weakness failed to deepen. When large amounts of coins are routed away from easily tradable exchange addresses and into custody services or offline storage, the amount of Bitcoin available for quick sale falls, a dynamic that can give modest buying pressure an outsized effect on price.

On Monday morning, the market did that thing it always does when politics stops being background noise and starts grabbing the steering wheel.

Screens went red, chats filled with the same half-jokes about “macro,” and Bitcoin slipped back under the psychological levels traders had just spent the weekend defending. The headline risk had a familiar scent, tariffs, allies, a threat timed for maximum attention, and just enough ambiguity to keep leverage on edge.

This time the spark came from Greenland.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump escalated his pressure campaign against European allies who oppose U.S. efforts to acquire the territory, floating a 10% tariff that would begin on February 1, with a threat to raise it further later this year.

By Monday, markets were no longer treating it as an offhand remark. U.S. futures slid, European indices fell, and the story mutated from geopolitical theatre into a real trade shock that could spill across risk assets.

For crypto traders, the mood shift felt personal. Plenty of desks still remember October, when tariff headlines helped trigger one of the nastiest liquidation cascades of the cycle, the kind that empties out leverage and leaves even good positions looking stupid for 48 hours.

Historically, such selling waves emerge during miner capitulation phases, which often appear near late-stage corrections and potential market turning points.

Mapping Bitcoin’s path out of bear territory as 3 KEY bull flags begin to flip

Bitcoin has hovered near a critical range over the past few days, with the asset yet to make a decisive move. The cryptocurrency has traded within a tight band between $69,000 and $70,000, remaining range-bound for several sessions.

However, the current market dynamic appears to be softening and may gradually tilt toward a bullish direction as several key indicators begin to flip with a clearer bias.

The Bitcoin Bull Score Index, a gauge used to assess the level of bullish or bearish sentiment in the market, rose to 30 over the past day.

This reading marks the highest level recorded since October 2025. Before this move, the index had remained significantly lower for an extended period. The recent shift suggests that bearish pressure in the market is beginning to ease after dominating trading activity for weeks.
According to analyst Julio Moreno, the recent shift developed gradually over the past few days and largely reflects improving capital inflows.
“Bull flags that turned on were: exchange flows, stablecoin liquidity growth and price momentum.”

Moreno noted that the change mainly reflects a shift in sentiment, moving from “extremely bearish” positioning to simply “bearish.” However, he cautioned that the development does not yet confirm the start of a sustained rally.

Social sentiment also appears to be improving.

Recent findings indicate that Bitcoin has continued to gain traction following the mining of the 20 millionth token earlier this month. The milestone has renewed market attention and added to broader market discussions around Bitcoin’s [BTC] long-term scarcity.

Taken together, the current market phase appears to represent a relief period.
