Chair Tim Scott eyes May CLARITY Act markup: ‘We’re in the red zone
U.S. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott is hopeful that the crypto market structure bill, the CLARITY Act, will pass before the August recess.
During an interview with FOX Business on Thursday, Scott said,
We’re in the red zone. I just want to have thirteen of thirteen Republicans on board. That makes it easier for us to have a bipartisan markup, in May, is my hope, and we’ll get this thing to the floor of the Senate.

In football, the red zone is an area close to the goal line. As such, Scott signaled that the elusive markup could be possible this month, counting on all 13 Republicans to help fast-track the process.

If the markup is successful, Scott added, the final Senate floor vote could happen in June or July

XRP Could Lead the Tokenization Boom, Says Evernorth CEO

Tokenization is moving from a niche concept to a mainstream financial trend, and industry leaders believe the shift could happen faster than expected.

Speaking at the XRP Las Vegas event, Evernorth CEO Asheesh Birla said tokenization is no longer just an emerging idea, it is becoming the future standard for how assets are issued, traded, and managed.

He compared the current stage of tokenization to the early internet era, when people used to ask whether businesses were online. Eventually, being on the internet became normal. Birla believes the same transformation is coming for tokenized assets.

“Within the next two years, people won’t ask if assets are tokenized—they will simply expect it,” he said.

Why Tokenization Could Become the Default

Today, asset tokenization remains limited, with adoption still in the early stages. However, better blockchain infrastructure, rising institutional participation, and growing investor awareness are accelerating the shift.

Tokenization allows traditional assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, and gold to be represented on blockchain networks. This improves settlement speed, liquidity, transparency, and accessibility for both retail and institutional investors.

According to Birla, this transition is happening quickly as major financial firms increase their focus on blockchain-based finance.

Is XRP a Good Investment?

Birla said XRP is well-positioned to benefit because its ecosystem was built for financial use cases from the start.

He explained that XRP has always focused on payments, cross-border settlements, and liquidity management, key areas that directly connect with tokenized finance.

“I do believe that XRP is going to be a leader there,” Birla said.

In an X post on May 1, analytics platform Glassnode shared an insightful update on the Bitcoin options following a general positive performance in April.  This month, Glassnode analysts reported that implied volatility notably dropped, with short-term (1W) volatility expectations declining by 16 points and longer-term (6M) volatility declining by 8 points. After April’s rally, this data largely suggests traders are no longer expecting explosive moves immediately.

 Interestingly, the realized volatility confirms this notion, having aligned with the implied volatility trend. A reduced realized volatility is highly important to prevent traders from hedging heavily, thereby reinforcing a self-repeating low volatility cycle.  In other developments, traders are accumulating calls (upside bets) at $80,000, suggesting a renewed confidence that the price will retest this barrier following two previous rejections in April. Glassnode noted that demand for puts (sell bets) had decreased in April but reversed sharply when prices neared the $80,000 zone. However, amid renewed low volatility, traders appeared assured of a return to this level, which is developing into a major psychological and technical resistance.
