The bank previously disclosed in November 2025 that it planned to launch native crypto custody in 2026. In an announcement on Tuesday, Citi confirmed the service will launch later this year, starting with bitcoin, and that clients will be able to access both traditional and crypto custody within the same framework.

Citi has continued to expand its digital asset infrastructure this year. In January, the bank said it was working with Intercontinental Exchange to enable tokenized deposits across its clearinghouses, later joining a Swift pilot for 24/7 cross-border payments using tokenized deposits in July. Citi is also part of a group of major U.S. banks behind a planned tokenized deposit network through The Clearing House, targeting a launch in the first half of 2027.

Flowra launches Open Orderflow Auction for Solana validators

Flowra has launched its Open Orderflow Auction for Solana, introducing an open block-building system that allows registered searchers to compete for transaction inclusion while giving validators greater control over blockspace and MEV revenue.

Flowra has launched its Open Orderflow Auction for the Solana ecosystem, introducing a competitive block-building framework aimed at opening the network’s MEV market to broader participation.

The framework is designed to open block building to competitive bidding, improve price discovery in Solana’s MEV market, and help validators capture more revenue. Registered searchers can compete for transaction inclusion through a transparent auction instead of relying on closed orderflow channels. Flowra said the Open Orderflow Auction is now available to validators and searchers, while it continues onboarding institutional-grade validators ahead of a broader rollout.

Open Orderflow Auction targets Solana MEV competition
Flowra said the auction changes how transaction inclusion can be offered to searchers. Rather than routing orderflow through closed channels, registered participants can bid openly for access to blockspace. The company expects that model to create clearer competition around transaction inclusion and allow validators to receive more of the value generated by MEV.

Solana validators process transactions and participate in network consensus. Flowra’s framework focuses on that validator layer by introducing a new method for constructing blocks and allocating blockspace. The company says its aim is to improve transaction transparency, value distribution, and incentive alignment among validators, users, and builders.

Bitwise $XRP ETF Sets Three Consecutive Volume Records

Trading activity in the Bitwise $XRP ETF accelerated sharply during the three sessions ending Aug. 24, according to Bitwise Asset Management President Teddy Fusaro. The three-day run marked the fund’s busiest stretch since it began trading in November 2025, and it landed during a sharp August recovery in $XRP’s price.

Fusaro shared on X:

“Volumes in the Bitwise $XRP ETF have really popped over the last 3 sessions. Over $80 million traded today, and over $60 mm each of the prior two days – each of which would have been its highest volume day since inception.”

The three sessions produced more than $200 million in combined trading volume. The figures represent secondary-market turnover, not net inflows into the fund.

The volume records followed a sharp recovery in $XRP, which lifted the fund’s net asset value to $15.36 on Aug. 20, an 11.71% gain, according to Bitwise. Crypto prices turned higher after the U.S. Department of the Treasury said Aug. 19 it would at least double its long-end buyback operations to $4 billion each, effective Sept. 9.

Bitwise’s official data show that the $XRP fund held approximately 328.2 million $XRP valued at $484.6 million as of Aug. 23. The fund had about $484.5 million in net assets, 29.38 million shares outstanding, and a 0.34% expense ratio. Trading volume measures the value of fund shares exchanged during a session, not capital entering the product. Record turnover can reflect existing shareholders buying and selling from each other, without a single new share being created or an extra token bought.

The analyst added that this indicator shows a significant improvement in market conditions and should be closely monitored over the next few weeks.

First Major Change in Favor of Bull!
Another CryptoQuant analyst also noted positive signs for Bitcoin. This analyst stated that Bitcoin has emerged from a period of selling pressure, entered a transitional phase, and regained the average purchase price range of $67,000 to $69,000 for short-term investors.

At this point, the analyst considered this movement in BTC as the first significant change in market trend since May.

The analyst also added that long-term investors did not engage in large-scale selling and that the decline in LTH’s price remained limited compared to past cycles.
