Ethereum staking crosses 32% – Yet ETH still lacks ONE KEY driver

As staking continues to lock supply, the demand side begins to show a different character, where derivatives take the lead instead of spot conviction.

Activity shifts quickly into leveraged markets, with Perpetual Volume rising to $34.74 billion, far above the $14.29 billion Spot Volume, which shows traders prefer speed over stability.

However, Open Interest (OI) fell to around $31.18 billion, down 5.75%, which suggests traders are not building sustained positions but rotating exposure.

Consequently, Funding Rates turned slightly negative, reflecting growing short pressure even as price held. This creates a mixed structure, where some traders position for downside while others chase short-term moves.

As a result, price becomes more reactive rather than stable, implying that users face faster swings, where gains can reverse quickly without strong spot demand to support them.

A memecoin called ASTEROID surged more than 68,000% in a week, crossing a $100 million market cap and generating over $100 million in 24-hour trading volume, driven by one of the most emotionally charged stories the crypto market has seen in years.

The token is not based on a dog or a cartoon. It is based on a Shiba Inu plush toy designed by Liv Perrotto, a 15-year-old who died after battling cancer. Her design flew as a zero-gravity indicator on a space mission. Before she passed, she had one request for Elon Musk.

“Can you make Asteroid the mascot for SpaceX?”


The story resurfaced online earlier this week and spread rapidly across social media. When it reached Musk, he replied publicly: “Will answer shortly.”

That single response was enough. ASTEROID’s market cap jumped from approximately $50,000 to over $20 million within hours as traders rushed to position themselves ahead of whatever came next.

Musk then followed up with a single word: “Ok.”

The confirmation sent the token parabolic. Traders interpreted the response as Musk agreeing to the mascot request, and the narrative had enough emotional weight to sustain buying pressure far beyond what most meme tokens ever see.

Ripple races to make XRP Ledger quantum-ready as computing threat turns ‘credible’
The company unveiled a roadmap to prepare the XRP Ledger for “a post-quantum future” by 2028.

The move follows concerns that quantum computing could eventually be capable of breaking cryptography, essentially putting people’s funds at risk.
Ripple said it's targeting to have the XRP Ledger quantum-ready by 2028.

The company said that even though assets are not at risk presently, "the threat has moved from theoretical to credible, and preparation timelines now matter."

Researchers at Google Quantum AI recently triggered a fresh round of debate with a new paper. Ripple's plans to prepare the XRP Ledger for potential advancements in quantum computing come amid concerns that technological leaps in the area could one day put the cryptography securing digital assets safe at risk.

"There's a more subtle risk too, one researchers call 'harvest now, decrypt later.' In simple terms, bad actors can collect publicly visible cryptographic data from the blockchain today and hold onto it, waiting for quantum hardware to mature enough to crack it and access the assets behind it," Ripple said in Monday's announcement. 

"The findings don’t point to an immediate break," the company added. "But they do make it clear that systems securing long-lived value need to start planning for a post-quantum transition."

While some industry leaders are in agreement with the severity of the risks posed by quantum computing, others, like Strategy's Michael Saylor, have downplayed the threat. Bernstein called quantum risk a "manageable upgrade cycle."

Last week, Tron founder Justin Sun said the blockchain he helped build is also taking steps to head off future technical threats posed by quantum computing.

Strategy buys 34,164 bitcoin for $2.54 billion, third-largest purchase on record



Michael Saylor’s Strategy (MSTR) added 34,164 bitcoin to its treasury over the past week at an average price of about $74,395 per coin, for a total cost of roughly $2.54 billion, according to a Monday filing.

The purchase brings the company’s total holdings to 815,061 $BTC, acquired for approximately $61.56 billion at an average cost basis of $75,527. With $BTC currently trading at around $75,000, Strategy's stash is currently break even. Strategy is the world's largest publicly-listed bitcoin holder. It began acquiring $BTC as a balance sheet asset in 2020.

Last week’s acquisitions were funded by $2.2 million raised through sales of the company’s preferred stock, Stretch (STRC), and $366 million from common stock offerings.

MSTR shares are down more than 2.5% in pre-market trading.
