He was responding to RippleX announcing that wXRP is now live on Solana, enabled by Hex Trust and LayerZero. XRP liquidity is no longer contained to the XRP Ledger. It is moving cross-chain, and that is a new demand driver that did not exist a month ago.

Derivatives data shows a clear contraction in market exposure even as price trends higher. According to CoinGlass, SIREN’s Open Interest (OI) declined by roughly 15% to $7.59 million over the past day.

Under normal conditions, falling OI aligns with weakening prices and bearish sentiment. Here, the opposite occurs. Price expansion alongside declining OI suggests that traders, particularly shorts, are actively closing positions rather than being liquidated.

Liquidations totaled $267,430 over the same period, a modest figure relative to the scale of the move. This reinforces the view that the market is seeing voluntary exits, not forced deleveraging.

Grayscale Dumps Coinbase for Anchorage in HYPE ETF Custody Shake-Up

Leading asset manager Grayscale has now updated its $HYPE ETF (ticker: GHYP) filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to designate Anchorage Digital as its custodian, replacing Coinbase.

$HYPE ETF: Why Grayscale has replaced Coinbase with Anchorage Digital

Notably, Grayscale has decided to replace Coinbase with Anchorage Digital, mainly for competition, concentration, and regulatory reasons.

In terms of competition, Hyperliquid (the protocol behind the $HYPE token) has become a prominent rival to Coinbase. The decentralized exchange recorded about $2.6 trillion in notional derivatives volume for 2025/early 2026. Meanwhile, Coinbase reported $1.4 trillion over the same period. These two, being opponents, therefore create a conflict of interest in the contract.

Secondly, regulators and issuers are continuously pushing for the diversification of custodians to prevent market monopoly and the associated financial risks. Coinbase is already custodian to about 80% of the US spot crypto ETF market.

Thirdly, Anchorage Digital stands out for its compliance, as it is the only federally chartered crypto bank in the US. In contrast, Coinbase remains state-regulated.

Another reason for the shift is risk reduction, which has also led BlackRock to choose Anchorage as its secondary custodian for its Bitcoin and Ethereum trusts.

Furthermore, Anchorage offers robust institutional staking services. This aligns with Grayscale’s plans to offer staking rewards for the ETF product, pending regulatory approval.

Competitor’s action and $HYPE price

Grayscale competitors like 21Shares and Bitwise have made the same change for the same reasons.

At press time, the $HYPE token had suffered a minor 0.23% pullback to $41.03 amid heightened sell pressure.

Stablecoin lending yields have climbed to 10.2%, marking record levels in the network’s credit infrastructure.

Following the KelpDAO security incident that shook investor confidence, the DeFi sector on Solana is undergoing a systemic challenge. The massive outflow of capital has created a bottleneck in stablecoin availability, driving up operating costs.

Technical data shows the magnitude of the crisis: Jupiter Lend, with $421 million in deposits, maintains a 99% utilization rate. Meanwhile, the Kamino market records an interest rate of 10.2% on $USDC, with barely any remaining liquidity to withdraw or borrow.

The pressure on the ecosystem is not superficial, as the main credit markets are operating at the limit of their technical capacity. This situation forces users to re-evaluate their positions in the face of the scarcity of liquid assets.

As liquidity providers withdraw their funds for fear of contagion, interest rates act as a defense mechanism. However, this rising cost of credit is paralyzing leverage strategies that are vital to the network.

Stablecoin adoption continues to advance in Brazil, where companies not directly linked to the crypto niche are also implementing use cases that include these dollar-pegged payment elements.

According to Carlos Russo, CEO of blockchain infrastructure provider Bloquo, stablecoins have risen as an effective way of expediting B2B settlements. Talking to Valor Economico, he stated:

“The market today is super healthy. Companies like ours operate mainly in B2B. We serve banks, brokerages, and other companies that want to exchange currency for stablecoins.”
Russo highlighted that most international travel agencies in Brazil now leverage stablecoins. Also, the executive mentioned foreign settlements with Bolivia as another use case for stablecoins. “There are no dollars in Bolivia. Stablecoins have become the solution,” he stressed.

Stablecoins, which have reached trading volumes of over 29.4 billion reais (nearly $6 billion) during December, have an advantage over standard fiat transactions. While the latter have to pay a financial transaction tax, stablecoins can be transacted freely.
