Retail fear across US equity markets has reached levels not seen in over two decades. The ROBO Put/Call Ratio has jumped to 1.0 for the first time in at least 20 years. The reading exceeds the 0.91 peak during the 2008 Financial Crisis and the 0.95 reached during the 2020 pandemic selloff. The ratio has doubled since December, marking the sharpest rise since the 2022 bear market began. “This ratio tracks retail opening buy orders in options, with the current reading showing retail traders buying nearly equal amounts of puts and calls...Fear is becoming overdone in this market,” The Kobeissi Letter noted. Bearish Positioning Reaches Rare Extremes The surge comes amid a broad rise in short interest across all major US indexes. According to data from Global Markets Investor, the median short interest for the S&P 500 now stands at approximately 3.7%, its highest level in 11 years. The Nasdaq 100 has reached roughly 2.7% short interest, a 6-year high. The Russell 2000 sits near 5.0%, its highest in 15 years. The last time all three indexes showed such elevated short positioning simultaneously was during the 2010-2011 European debt crisis. That convergence is significant because it suggests bearish conviction extends beyond any single sector or market-cap segment. “All three indexes have seen short interest rise sharply since mid-2024, accelerating further in 2026,” the post added. Schwab launches direct crypto trading in coming weeks to 39 million customers



Charles Schwab announced this week it will begin offering direct cryptocurrency trading to everyday investors in the coming weeks, allowing customers to buy and sell bitcoin and ethereum alongside their traditional investments.

The new service, called Schwab Crypto, will charge 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade, positioning itself among the lowest-cost options in the industry. Customers will be able to view and manage their digital assets next to stocks and bonds across Schwab’s website, mobile app, and thinkorswim trading platform.

“We know our clients want to conduct more of their financial lives at Schwab,” said Jonathan Craig, Head of Retail Investing at Charles Schwab. “With Schwab Crypto, clients who want direct access to the asset class can trade it alongside their other investments, while benefiting from the service, education, and research they expect from us.”

The brokerage surveyed nearly 500 current and prospective cryptocurrency investors between July 31 and September 1, 2025. Respondents identified three key factors when choosing where to trade digital assets: low and transparent pricing, brand familiarity and reputation, and confidence that their holdings would remain secure.

Schwab will start with bitcoin and ethereum, which together represent approximately three-quarters of the cryptocurrency market value. The firm plans to add more digital currencies over time and will eventually allow customers to transfer crypto they already own into their Schwab accounts.

Charles Schwab Premier Bank will serve as custodian, responsible for safekeeping and record-keeping of customer assets. Paxos, a blockchain infrastructure provider regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, will handle sub-custody and trade execution behind the

However, while the fundamental "pipes" of DeFi are as busy as ever, their native tokens, UNI and CRV, are currently locked in a battle against heavy multi-month resistance. Uniswap (UNI): Liquidity Winner, Technically Still Mid‐Range Source: tradingview The technical picture is one of early improvement rather than a clean trend reversal. While the 7-day SMA ($3.16) is finally supporting the current price, the 30-day ($3.43) and 200-day ($5.20) moving averages remain significant overhead obstacles. The MACD histogram (+0.0057) is turning up from weak levels, but until the MACD line itself crosses into positive territory, the momentum is best described as "bottom-fishing." TradingView Watchlist: Watch for a daily close above the $3.43 (30-day SMA) level. A sustained break here, accompanied by an RSI-14 climb into the 55–65 band, would signal that the bulls are finally wrestling control back from the sellers. Near-Term Scenario Map Base Case (-15% to +25%): UNI continues to oscillate between $2.70 and $4.00. Continued DEX volume strength keeps the floor intact, but the 200-day MA likely caps any rallies without a massive volume surge. Bullish Path (+30% to +50%): A genuine DeFi comeback pushes UNI toward $4.10–$4.75. This would require a confirmed "DeFi Summer 2.0" rotation and clearly positive MACD signals. Bearish Path (-20% to -30%): If capital rotates into newer narratives like AI infrastructure or RWAs, UNI may drift toward $2.50–$2.20.
