‘Durable Market Bottom’ Has Occurred Around $60,000: Grayscale Research

Major crypto research firm and ETF issuer Grayscale has stated that the cryptocurrency has formed a “durable bottom” in recent months, and it is likely to hold on to it. Its research division pointed to the recent price reversal and strong demand below $70k as reasons it believes the market isn’t likely to drop much in the near future.
The major institutional investment enabler states that Bitcoin’s 20% rally over the last month or so has really turned things around for the premier digital currency. Other than the spot price index, blockchain data has also supported the formation of a resilient bottom that is likely to stand the test of time, Grayscale argued.
A durable bottom doesn’t mean the premier digital currency is unlikely to fall below $60k in the near future. It refers to a stage in the market cycle in which selling pressure has largely been exhausted and long-term investors begin accumulating assets again. Sellers are now less active than before, while major buyers like Saylor are looking to continue their aggressive buying trend. 

In simple terms, the cryptocurrency may yet post losses again, but due to clear seller exhaustion, it will be a tame price drop compared to earlier ones in February of this year or in October 2025. 

Grayscale believes that three clear indications have emerged that strengthen this narrative: recovering transaction volumes, accumulation trends in wallets, and whale behavior. Whales, aka holders with over 1,000 BTC in their wallets, reportedly kickstarted the ongoing bear market in late 2025 and engaged in a selling frenzy.  However, more whales are now buying than selling, which indicates high levels of seller exhaustion.

Strategy’s (MSTR) perpetual preferred stock, STRC, is now one week past its April 15 ex-dividend date. With bitcoin now at $79,000 this marks the first time in six months that $BTC has risen in the week following the payout event.

At the time of the ex-dividend date, bitcoin was around $75,000, highlighting continued strength in $BTC despite the typical post dividend adjustment in STRC. STRC over the past few months has served as an aggressive funding instrument for the company’s bitcoin purchases.

Ether ETFs added $275.83 million, extending a 7-day streak, showing stronger and steadier demand.

XRP gained $55.39 million and Solana $35.17 million, signaling broader ETF participation across ETFs.

Momentum returned quietly, but it did not stay that way. By the end of the week, crypto ETFs had delivered one of their strongest collective performances in recent months, with capital flowing steadily back into the sector and conviction building across multiple assets.

Bitcoin spot ETFs led the charge, recording $996.38 million in net inflows and marking a third consecutive week of gains. The headline number, however, masked a volatile start. Monday opened with a sharp $291 million outflow, driven largely by heavy redemptions from Fidelity’s FBTC and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB.

That weakness proved temporary. From Tuesday onward, flows turned decisively positive, culminating in a $663.91 million surge on Friday that pushed total net assets back above $100 billion. Blackrock’s IBIT dominated the week, attracting $906.1 million and acting as the primary engine of demand. Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB rebounded strongly to finish with $98.5 million in inflows, while Bitwise’s BITB added $54.1 million.Morgan Stanley’s MSBT emerged as a notable new force. The fund extended its inflow streak to eight consecutive days, accumulating $71.1 million for the week and $133 million since launch, with an average daily inflow of $16.6 million. Its competitive 14 basis point fee structure is already raising questions about how incumbents may respond.

Banks And Crypto In A Legislative Standoff
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025 — known as the CLARITY Act — was drafted to establish rules for how crypto assets are classified and overseen in the US. But the bill hit a wall after Coinbase and other crypto companies publicly opposed earlier versions of it.

Among their objections: the bill would ban yield-bearing stablecoins. Banks, for their part, have pushed hard to keep that ban in place.

Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has been working on a revised draft aimed at satisfying both sides, but reports say it has already drawn pushback and has yet to be released publicly.

The standoff reflects a deeper anxiety in the banking industry — one that a senior Moody’s analyst says may be premature, at least for now.

Near-Term Risk Remains Low, Analyst Says
Abhi Srivastava, associate vice president at Moody’s Investors Service Digital Economy Group, said that the threat stablecoins pose to traditional banks is limited at this point in the adoption cycle.

The US already has payment systems that are fast, low-cost, and trusted, he said, which reduces the appeal of stablecoin-based alternatives for everyday transactions.

According to Srivastava, the current legal prohibition on stablecoins paying yield is a key reason they are unlikely to pull deposits away from banks at any meaningful scale in the near term.

Justin Sun sues World Liberty Financial over WLFI token freeze, governance exclusion
Tron founder Justin Sun said he filed a lawsuit today against World Liberty Financial.

Sun said the WLFI team refused to unfreeze his tokens, leaving him with no choice but to turn to the courts.
Tron founder Justin Sun said he filed a lawsuit today against Trump-linked World Liberty Financial in a California federal court.

In a Tuesday post on X, Sun wrote that he sued World Liberty after the team froze his WLFI tokens and made him ineligible to vote on governance proposals.

"They wrongfully froze all of my tokens, stripped me of my right to vote on governance proposals, and have threatened to permanently destroy my tokens by 'burning' them — all without any proper justification," Sun said.

"[The] project team has refused my requests to unfreeze my tokens and restore my rights as a token holder," Sun added. "They have left me with no choice but to turn to the courts."

Sun also said he remains a supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, but alleged that certain individuals on the WLFI team "have been operating the project in a manner that goes against President Trump's values."

The Block reached out to Sun's team for further information, while World Liberty declined to comment on the lawsuit when contacted.

Sun, once the largest external backer of World Liberty, has emerged as the project's most vocal public critic, engaging in a prolonged feud following its decision to freeze his WLFI tokens.

On April 12, He alleged that the World Liberty team embedded an undisclosed blacklisting function in the WLFI smart contract that allows it to "freeze, restrict, and effectively confiscate" investor tokens. WLFI's responded hours later on X, accusing Sun of "playing the victim while making baseless allegations to cover up his own misconduct" and signaled potential legal..
