Bitcoin Block Reward Set to Drop Again
Bitcoin’s current block reward is 3.125 $BTC, following the fourth halving in April 2024. At block 1,050,000, that reward will be reduced to 1.5625 $BTC. The change will further slow the pace of new Bitcoin entering circulation.

The cut is expected to reduce Bitcoin’s annualized inflation rate from about 0.85% to around 0.4%, based on current supply estimates. That lower issuance rate is central to Bitcoin’s monetary design and is closely watched by miners, traders, and long-term holders.

Bitcoin has already gone through four halvings. The first took place on November 28, 2012, reducing rewards from 50 $BTC to 25 $BTC. The second occurred on July 9, 2016, cutting rewards to 12.5 $BTC. The third happened on May 11, 2020, lowering rewards to 6.25 $BTC. The fourth occurred in April 2024, reducing rewards to 3.125 $BTC.

Spot ETFs Shape the 2028 Cycle
The next Bitcoin halving will be the first full cycle in which spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds play a central role. Since their approval, spot ETFs have become an important channel for institutional and retail exposure to Bitcoin.

 Ecosystem Under ThreatCardano founder Charles Hoskinson has expressed his concerns regarding the future of the network, claiming that the foundation research ecosystem behind the project is on the verge of being dismantled.

Hoskinson's warning comes after several Japanese Delegate Representatives (dReps) voted against a critical research funding proposal.

A "science coin"
Hoskinson directed a translated message to the Japanese community on X earlier today.

The rejection of the proposal would have catastrophic consequences for the network's academic and development operations, according to the crypto mogul.

"If this proposal does not pass, we want the entire Japanese community to fully recognize that Cardano will lose its scientists, and our lab will be forced to close," Hoskinson stated.

The Cardano founder specifically noted that it had taken an immense effort to develop the premier academic group.

"We cannot allow this achievement to be shattered and dismantled over some piecemeal funding support. Our scientists will simply leave for places that offer greater certainty and respect," he said.

One user noted that leadership cannot champion full decentralization and then start complaining about how the voting system works against their wishes.

However, Hoskinson is convinced that the funding rejection could cause serious harm to the network. Hence, he believes that it should not be framed as merely his personal grievance, given that the very identity of the project is currently under threat.

"This doesn't have anything to do with me. This has to do with destroying the entire core of our ecosystem," Hoskinson replied. "Cardano is the science coin. That's our brand. We spent hundreds of millions of dollars and a decade to earn the right to say that. You don't throw it away."

Today a scenario has emerged that leads to the hypothesis that the price of Bitcoin may be rising in the coming days.

This is only a hypothesis, but it is supported by at least one clear element.

To tell the truth there is also another dynamic that suggests this, but that dynamic only suggests a small short-term rebound, while the clear element suggests a potentially longer and more extensive rise.

The MVRV ratio

The Market Value to Realized Value ratio (more commonly called MVRV) is an on-chain indicator that measures how much Bitcoin’s current market price deviates from its “realized value”.

It is calculated as the ratio between the current price and the average price of all $BTC at the time of their last on-chain movement.

For example, right now the price (Market Value) is about $77,000, while the RV (Realized Value) is just over $54,000. Therefore the MVRV ratio is equal to 1.42.

To calculate RV, you sum the dollar value that all $BTC on the Bitcoin blockchain had at the moment they were moved for the last time (i.e., used).

Technically, the Realized Value is an estimate of the average purchase cost of all existing $BTC, therefore including the one million $BTC held by Satoshi Nakamoto and never used.

The bullish signal

The analyst AliCharts on X today pointed out that the MVRV ratio has recently slipped below its 180-day moving average.

AliCharts states that, while standard technical models consider this move as a cooling-off phase, he instead sees it as a high-conviction accumulation phase.

In fact, he argues that when the MVRV ratio is positioned below the 180-day moving average, it means that the market is effectively eliminating the premium and incorporating a deep discount.

He adds:
