President Donald Trump’s family-backed crypto project, World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has passed a governance proposal requiring token holders to lock up their tokens for nearly six months in order to participate in protocol voting. Summary WLFI holders approved a governance proposal requiring token holders to stake their tokens for 180 days in order to participate in protocol voting. Participants who stake WLFI and vote at least twice during the lock period can earn roughly 2% annual yield. The proposal received overwhelming support and was approved with 99.12% of 1,800 votes cast in favor, although more than 76% of the voting power came from just ten users. WLFI introduced the proposal last month, outlining a governance staking system that would require holders of unlocked WLFI tokens to stake their assets before they can participate in votes that determine the direction of the protocol and its broader ecosystem. According to the firm, the change would ensure that only participants with “long-term alignment to the protocol” are able to influence governance decisions. The proposal “rewards WLFI holders who have demonstrated the most commitment to WLFI governance and the WLFI ecosystem with additional opportunity to engage in the future of the WLFI ecosystem and potential commercial arrangements,” the document states. SEC drops lawsuit against BitClout’s Nader Al-Naji

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ended its civil enforcement action against BitClout founder Nader Al-Naji and several related defendants, saying the decision was "based on the particular facts and circumstances of this case.”

In a joint stipulation filed March 12, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the SEC and Al-Naji agreed to close the case, ending the litigation permanently and preventing the agency from refiling the same claims.

The SEC filed the lawsuit in July 2024, accusing Al-Naji of violating securities laws through the crypto-based social network project BitClout, later associated with the decentralized social blockchain DeSo. The SEC and Department of Justice charged Al-Naji with wire fraud and the sale of unregistered securities.

The charges claimed Al-Naji raised approximately $257 million from the sale of BitClout’s native token, BTCLT. They alleged he led investors to believe the money would be used to pay him and other BitClout employees, but instead spent “more than $7 million of investor funds on personal expenditures,” renting a mansion in Beverly Hills and “extravagant cash gifts.”

The case also named several “relief defendants,” including Buse Desticioğlu Al-Naji, Joumana Bahouth Al-Naji, Intangible Holdings LLC, Firestorm Media LLC, Viridian City LLC and the DeSo Foundation.

BitClout, which debuted in early 2021, was promoted as a proof-of-work blockchain designed to run and monetize social media, but quickly drew controversy. The platform automatically created profiles for prominent figures by scraping their accounts on X, then still known as Twitter, without consent, prompting a cease-and-desist letter from law firm Anderson Kill alleging violations of California’s right-of-publicity law, CoinDesk reported at the time

Bitcoin briefly broke through the $74,000 resistance zone that it had rejected four times in two weeks, before reversing under that level.

The largest cryptocurrency was trading just above $74,000 on Monday morning, up 2.9% over the past 24 hours and 9.7% on the week. Ether surged 7.7% in 24 hours and 14.3% on the week to $2,261, its strongest weekly performance in months. Solana jumped 5.6% on the day and 12% on the week to $93.

Dogecoin hit $0.10 for the first time since early March, up 4.6% daily and 10.6% weekly. BNB gained 3.8% to $683 with a 9.5% weekly gain. XRP rose 4.2% to $1.47, up 8.9% over seven days.

The move had a short squeeze behind it. CoinGlass data shows $344 million in total liquidations over the past 24 hours across 91,978 traders, with short liquidations accounting for $284.9 million, roughly 83% of the total. Ether shorts got hit hardest at $127.9 million, followed by bitcoin at $124.5 million and solana at $18.5 million.

The largest single liquidation was a $6.94 million BTC position on Bitfinex. The lopsided ratio confirms that the rally was fueled in part by bears getting forced out of positions, though the broad altcoin participation and macro backdrop suggest there's more to it than just a squeeze.


The catalyst was a shift in tone from multiple directions at once. Trump said the U.S. was talking to Iran, though Tehran denied requesting talks or a ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz was only closed to ships from "enemies," a notable softening from the blanket closure that had been in effect.

Two tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas to India sailed through the strait on Sunday, the first commercial transit since the war began.

The market requires more than just a quick surge past resistance; it needs a steady hold above it. $XRP has demonstrated a propensity for fake breakouts in the past, in which the price momentarily rises above resistance before swiftly declining back below it. When the price reverses, these unsuccessful breakouts frequently trap traders who enter too early, increasing selling pressure.
