Injective has announced support for native USDC and the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) from Circle. This integration allows USDC to move directly between blockchains without using wrapped tokens or third-party bridges, reducing risks and simplifying cross-chain transfers.
Why it matters:
USDC is growing fast, with supply nearing $80 billion, up 42% from a year ago. The stablecoin market overall is worth $316 billion, and USDC now accounts for 64% of adjusted stablecoin volume this year, surpassing USDT.
By integrating native USDC and CCTP, Injective provides a regulated, high-liquidity dollar asset that can be used as collateral, a price reference, and a settlement base across its markets.
How CCTP works:
The protocol burns USDC on the source chain and mints the same amount on the destination chain, avoiding the usual risks and fragmentation of traditional bridges. Users can now move funds directly between Injective and other networks such as Ethereum, Solana, and Cosmos-based chains.
