After a week of steady inflows and rising optimism, crypto ETFs just hit a pause button. Investors are stepping back, locking in profits, and reassessing short-term market direction.
Bitcoin ETFs recorded a significant $163.5 million in outflows, snapping a 7-day inflow streak. The pullback was led by Fidelity Investments’s FBTC, which saw a massive $103.8 million exit. BlackRock’s IBIT followed with $33.9 million in outflows.
Other players like Grayscale Investments (GBTC) and Bitwise Asset Management (BITB) also saw notable withdrawals. Interestingly, no Bitcoin ETF recorded inflows that day. Still, trading activity remained strong, with volume hitting $3.46 billion—showing that interest hasn’t disappeared, just shifted.
Ether ETFs reflected a similar risk-off mood, with total outflows reaching $55.7 million. Fidelity’s FETH led the decline, while Grayscale’s ETHE and other funds followed.
The only exception? BlackRock’s ETHB, which managed to pull in a modest $1.13 million—hinting that some investors are quietly buying the dip.
Meanwhile, XRP ETFs stayed flat with no activity, suggesting investors are waiting for clearer signals. Solana ETFs saw only minor outflows, keeping things relatively quiet on that front.
So, what’s really happening?
This shift doesn’t necessarily signal a bearish trend. Instead, it likely reflects:

U.S. lawmakers move to block taxpayer rescues for crypto firms, tightening federal safeguards and signaling tougher boundaries between digital asset risk and traditional finance as scrutiny intensifies over potential spillover into the broader financial system.

Senate Bill Targets Limits on Federal Crypto Bailouts

Legislative scrutiny of crypto-related financial risk sharpened as U.S. Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) introduced the “No Bailout for Crypto Act” on March 19, targeting limits on federal intervention. The measure seeks to prevent taxpayer-backed assistance for digital asset firms during periods of market distress.

Lawmakers outlined restrictions that would block federal agencies from extending emergency support to entities primarily engaged in crypto trading, custody, or issuance, while reinforcing separation from traditional financial safeguards. Durbin said:

“When crypto crashes, everyday Americans should not be on the hook for saving a failed industry—as they were during the 2008 financial crisis. That only punishes hardworking Americans despite no wrongdoing of their own.”

The legislation is cosponsored by U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Peter Welch (D-VT), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Mazie Hirono (D-HI). It also receives endorsements from consumer advocacy groups: Consumer Federation of America, American Economic Liberties Project, Americans for Financial Reform, Consumer Action, National Association of Consumer Advocates, National Consumer Law Center on behalf of its low-income clients, National Consumers League, Public Citizen, and Woodstock Institute.

Tokenization Hearing Confirmed, CLARITY Act Stablecoin Deal Done “In Principle”: Big Week for Crypto

Congress just confirmed a dedicated tokenization hearing for March 25.

The CLARITY Act's biggest obstacle in months was just resolved "in principle" by two key senators.

Senator Moreno has warned that if this bill doesn't pass by May, crypto legislation may not move again for years.

Two things happened in Washington this week that the crypto industry has been waiting years for and they arrived at the same time.

The House Financial Services Committee has scheduled a hearing titled “Tokenization and the Future of Securities: Modernizing Our Capital Markets” for Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 10AM EST. Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger is among the confirmed witnesses.

The hearing, first reported by Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett on X, will bring together lawmakers and industry voices to formally examine how tokenization fits into the future of US financial markets.

It is one of the most significant Congressional hearings on tokenization to date and it lands in the same week the CLARITY Act’s most stubborn obstacle was removed.

Senators Thom Tillis and Angela Alsobrooks announced they have reached an “agreement in principle” on stablecoin yield, the provision that had blocked the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act from advancing for months. Banks had argued that allowing stablecoin platforms to offer rewards on token holdings would draw deposits away from traditional banking. That argument is now, at least in principle, resolved.

Senator Alsobrooks told Politico: “We’ve come a long way. And I think what it will do is to allow us to protect innovation, but also gives us the opportunity to prevent widespread deposit flight.”
