The Trump administration has

reportedly invited executives from some of America's largest corporations to join President Donald Trump on his upcoming trip to China next week, according to a Semafor report. The visit is expected to focus heavily on U.S.-China trade relations, investment opportunities, and major business agreements. Among the companies said to be included on the invitation list are Nvidia, Apple, ExxonMobil, Boeing, Qualcomm, Blackstone, Citigroup, and Visa. Sources familiar with the matter confirmed that Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser received an invitation, while Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon is expected to attend if the trip proceeds as scheduled. Reuters could not independently verify the complete list of invited companies, but multiple sources said several CEOs received invitations on Wednesday evening. The White House and several companies, including Apple, ExxonMobil, Citigroup, and Visa, declined to comment on the report. Boeing and Blackstone also chose not to provide statements. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed the speculation during an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, saying he would be honored to represent the United States if invited. Huang added that any official announcement should come directly from President Trump.

Arbitrum delegates approved the release of $71 million in ether frozen after last month’s Lazarus-linked rsETH exploit, setting up a direct clash between decentralized governance and an active U.S. court fight over who owns the funds.

The on-chain vote, which closed Friday afternoon Hong Kong time with more than 90% support, authorizes the release of 30,765 $ETH frozen by Arbitrum’s Security Council after the April 18 exploit, when attackers used unbacked rsETH tokens as collateral on Aave to borrow roughly $230 million in $ETH from the protocol.

The funds are earmarked for a coordinated industry recovery effort led by Aave, KelpDAO, LayerZero, EtherFi and Compound, aimed at making affected users whole.

But the frozen ether is also at the center of an escalating legal dispute in Manhattan federal court.

Last week, attorney Charles Gerstein, representing families holding roughly $877 million in unpaid terrorism judgments against North Korea, served a restraining notice on Arbitrum DAO claiming the frozen $ETH constitutes North Korean property because the exploit has been widely attributed to Pyongyang’s Lazarus Group.

That triggered an emergency legal fight.

Aave moved earlier this week to vacate the restraining notice, arguing the assets belong to innocent users, not North Korea, and warning that continued delays risk “cascading liquidations” and broader instability across decentralized finance markets.

Gerstein fired back Tuesday, arguing the exploit was not theft but fraud, meaning the attackers obtained legal title to the $ETH by deceiving Aave’s lending markets with worthless collateral.

Friday’s governance vote does not mean the funds move immediately.

On May 7, bitcoin reversed course, dipping below $80,000 to effectively erase gains made since Monday. As shown by the daily chart, the top cryptocurrency—which reached a multi-month high of $82,833 some 24 hours earlier—had been under pressure from bears since Wednesday afternoon.

After losing $1,000 during a slow descent from midday to midnight, bitcoin found temporary support at $80,700. While a pre-dawn rally lifted the price to $81,600, the momentum proved unsustainable. The subsequent sell-off was more aggressive, forcing the asset down to a $79,500 intraday low. As of 1 p.m. EDT, bitcoin has reclaimed some ground, currently hovering just below the $80,000 mark.
Bitcoin’s nearly 2% drop dragged its market capitalization below the $1.6 trillion mark, a marked decline from the approximately $1.66 trillion intraday peak reached on Wednesday. The drop helped pull the crypto economy’s market cap to $2.74 trillion, down from just over $2.8 trillion.

The cryptocurrency market’s retreat, which mirrored Wall Street’s, coincided with reports that Iran had rejected the Trump administration’s proposal to end the war. According to a post on X by Walter Bloomberg, a senior Iranian official, Mohsen Rezaei, said Tehran rejected the proposal—which calls on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz—because it does not include reparations for war damage
Iran’s rejection of the U.S. proposal neutralized the optimism sparked by earlier Axios reports that a deal was imminent. Concerns are mounting that a prolonged diplomatic stalemate will embolden Washington
