In response, Hoskinson has defended himself, arguing that it is impossible he was involved in the XRP lawsuit. Cardano Founder Accused Of Derailing XRP’s GrowthIn an X post, Ripple community member Wino opined that the Cardano founder was involved in the ETHgate, which negatively impacted XRP’s growth. The ETHgate involves allegations that the U.S. SEC favored Ethereum over XRP by declaring that the former wasn’t a security. XRP and Ethereum were notably ranked as the largest altcoins by market cap at the time, making them direct competitors and fueling speculation that the ETHgate was aimed at bringing XRP down. Meanwhile, in response to claims that he was involved in the ETHgate, the Cardano founder noted that he was “pushed” out of Ethereum in June 2014. He added that since then, they have spent 12 years attacking him. As such, he questioned how it was possible that he decided, years later, to coordinate with them to help Ethereum attack XRP. It is worth noting that the Cardano founder was one of Ethereum’s co-founders but left in June 2014 over differences with Vitalik Buterin and the other co-founders. Standard Chartered said Zodia Custody shareholders and noteholders accepted its non-binding offer. The deal still needs regulatory approvals and normal closing steps. The bank will place Zodia Custody's regulated custody activities inside its existing digital asset custody business under Financing and Securities Services. It said the move will combine its custody operations and create a fuller offer for digital asset custody clients worldwide. The cryptocurrency market is having a relief pump following days of massive selloff. Bitcoin remains below $77,000, but the leading altcoins have embarked on a solid recovery.

Ethereum (ETH), the leading altcoin by market cap, is approaching the $2,200 level once again, while Hyperliquid (HYPE) leads the rally with a 6% pump.

However, $ONDO, the native coin of Ondo Finance, is the best performer among the top 50 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

$ONDO is up 13% in the last 24 hours, with the bulls now targeting the 4-hour swing high above $0.48.

Momentum indicators have also flipped bullish, suggesting that buyers are now in control.

Iran Explores “Hormuz Safe” With Bitcoin-Backed Cargo Insurance
Iran has announced Hormuz Safe, a new Bitcoin-based maritime insurance project for ships. It is expected to cover cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf amid stretched geopolitical tensions. Meanwhile, crypto users have termed it a win for Bitcoin in critical oil trades. 

The Iranian Economy Ministry is developing a new insurance template for nearby shipping routes. Local sources suggest the government is mulling settlement payments in Bitcoin to avoid sanctions and facilitate faster payments.

Specifically, it would cover vessels passing through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and might extend to nearby channels. Sources familiar with the matter say that policies will be issued cryptographically and that a signed receipt will be given to the owner. 

The model could generate up to $10 billion if implemented, as Iran plans to monetize those shipping routes. The Strait powers a fifth of global oil trade and remains a vital route for energy stability.

Sequel to the US-Iran war and suspended hostilities, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. (IRGC) charges tankers a dollar per barrel for smooth passage. Payments were initially settled in yuan and stablecoins.

Now, the government aims to further expand Bitcoin payments, preventing hostile foreign nations from tracing or freezing them. In recent years, the regime has faced sanctions from the U.S. and is seeking to bypass transaction bottlenecks. 

A similar play was used by several Russian entities after their invasion of Ukraine. With sanctions rolling out, institutions turned to Bitcoin and stablecoins for settlements.
