30-Year Analyst Explains: “According to the Elliott Wave Theory, the Bitcoin Downturn Is Over”

Jordi Visser, a veteran macro investor with over 30 years of experience, assessed recent market developments. According to Visser, while artificial intelligence and commodity scarcity are ushering the world into a new economic era, Bitcoin is re-emerging with its “scarcity” argument.

He also added that in the hyper-connected world, investors experience “amnesia,” quickly forgetting negative events and focusing on new narratives.

According to the analyst, despite the deflationary pressure created by artificial intelligence (AI), a serious inflationary risk is looming in the short term. Visser argued that the AI world has reached its physical limits and is experiencing massive processor (CPU), memory (DRAM), and energy shortages.

Visser, particularly highlighting Elon Musk’s “Terra Fab” announcement, predicts that this bottleneck in the hardware and commodities sectors will keep inflation well above the Fed’s target of 2%, reaching 4% and higher.

Visser, who analyzed Bitcoin’s recent performance from a technical and macroeconomic perspective, stated that according to Elliott Wave theory, Bitcoin has completed its correction phase and entered a new uptrend from the $60,000 level.

In the DeFi sector, total value locked (TVL) across protocols decreased to around $90 billion.

The crypto market reacts almost instantly to any change in international conflicts, especially in the US-Iran conflict. This week, the temporary opening of the Ormuz Strait sent most cryptocurrencies soaring overnight. Some crypto assets even recorded double-digit value boosts. Since then, the strait has once again been blockaded. However, the crypto market’s inertia persists, as most cryptos are still trading in the green. Meanwhile, the overall market capitalization increased by about $150 billion.
Bitcoin started the week trading at around $71,000. The world’s most popular cryptocurrency reacted positively to news of the Ormuz Strait reopening and climbed as high as $78,500 mid-week. However, the surge did not last long enough to push BTC past the $80K resistance level. Fortunately, the subsequent drop was not significant, and BTC settled at around $75,600.

Ethereum increased by nearly 6% over the past seven days. The second crypto in command continues to grow steadily, hoping to cement its position above the $2,000 threshold. Currently, ETH is trading at around $2,300 and is slowly ascending.

The DeFi space has been shaken by another major security breach, as Kelp DAO reportedly suffered a massive cross-chain exploit resulting in the loss of approximately 116,500 rsETH — valued at nearly $292 million.
The attack exposed a critical vulnerability in cross-chain infrastructure. Hackers exploited a flaw in the bridge communication system, specifically targeting the “IzReceive” function within LayerZero’s EndpointV2. This allowed them to manipulate contract calls and redirect funds to attacker-controlled wallets.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT was among the first to identify the breach, estimating total losses exceeding $280 million. He also revealed that the attacker’s wallet was initially funded via Tornado Cash, indicating a well-planned and obfuscated operation.
Kelp DAO responded swiftly by pausing all rsETH-related contracts across Ethereum mainnet and multiple Layer 2 networks. Deposits, withdrawals, and oracle functions were immediately halted to contain the damage. These actions proved effective, as two additional exploit attempts — targeting another 40,000 rsETH (around $100 million) — were successfully blocked.
The impact quickly spread across the DeFi ecosystem. Lending giant Aave froze rsETH markets on both its V3 and V4 platforms. While Aave confirmed its own protocol was not compromised, the move was made to prevent potential bad debt exposure during the ongoing investigation.
rsETH, a liquid restaking token, plays a key role in enabling users to earn yield while maintaining liquidity across multiple chains. With nearly 18% of its circulating supply affected, the exploit has delivered a serious blow to both liquidity and user confidence.
This incident underscores a harsh reality: as DeFi becomes more interconnected, the risks tied to cross-chain systems grow exponentially. Innovation must be matched with robust security — because in DeFi, trust is built on code, and once broken, it’s hard to restore.
