Can Ethereum Price Break $2,400 and Confirm a Bullish Trend Reversal?

Ethereum price is basically stuck right under a ceiling, and $2,400 is the level doing all the damage, because it lines up with both resistance and the 100-day EMA, and every push into it keeps getting rejected.

The structure underneath still looks solid, though, with price holding above the 20 and 50-day averages, which keeps the bias slightly bullish as long as that holds.

Momentum is kind of neutral right now, RSI is sitting in the middle, and MACD is still weak but flattening, which usually means a bigger move is building but has not picked a direction yet.

If ETH can break above $2,400 with real volume, that is where things open up quickly toward $2,500 and higher, because the structure is already in place for continuation.

But if it keeps failing at this level, a pullback becomes more likely, with $2,200 as the first area that needs to hold, and if that goes, it can slide further down fast.

So this is one of those tight setups where everything comes down to one level, break it, and it runs, fail it again, and it pulls back.

The total stablecoin market capitalization rose by 0.88% over the past week, reaching a record $32.14 billion. Notably, USDT reversed its recent contraction trend, with circulation increasing by 1.26% and its market share climbing to 58.06%, signaling renewed liquidity flow into the crypto ecosystem.
At the same time, DeFi activity rebounded strongly, with total value locked (TVL) climbing back near the $100 billion level, currently reported at $99.68 billion. This suggests a gradual return of capital and confidence across decentralized financial protocols.
Meanwhile, decentralized exchange (DEX) activity also expanded, with weekly trading volume increasing by 16.27% to approximately $39.395 billion, reflecting growing on-chain trading demand.
Overall, the simultaneous rise in stablecoin supply, DeFi liquidity, and DEX volume points to a broad-based recovery trend across the crypto market, as investor activity begins to strengthen again.

Oil jumped about 2.4%, reaching $93.52 per barrel. Since Canada is a major oil exporter, higher crude prices tend to strengthen its currency, putting downward pressure on USD/CAD.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar managed to break an eight-day losing streak. Ongoing uncertainty around U.S.–Iran negotiations has reduced expectations of a quick resolution, adding some support to the greenback. Stronger labor market data also helped, with jobless claims falling by 11,000 to 207,000 last week.
On the domestic side, Canadian housing data showed a slight slowdown. Home sales dipped 0.1% in March, and prices also declined, signaling some cooling in the real estate market.
Looking ahead, investors expect the Bank of Canada to keep its interest rate unchanged at 2.25% in the upcoming April 29 meeting. However, markets are still pricing in one rate hike before the end of the year.
From a technical perspective, immediate resistance stands at 1.3761 (50% Fibonacci level). A break above this could push the pair toward 1.3791. On the downside, support is seen at 1.3674 (61.8% Fibonacci), with a deeper move potentially targeting 1.3642.
Trade idea: Selling around 1.3720 could be favorable, with a stop loss at 1.3770 and a target near 1.3660.
