‘Launch is soon’ – Bitwise updates Spot HYPE ETF filing, rally next?

Hyperliquid could soon gain an extra investor base as its U.S Spot $HYPE ETF debut looks imminent.

According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, Bitwise updated its Spot $HYPE ETF filing, including a ticker BHYP and a fee 0.67%. Per Balchunas, such updates “typically mean a launch is soon,” adding that,

$HYPE is up 200% in the past year, so they’re probably trying to strike while iron hot

Bitwise first filed for the product in September 2025. A month later, 21Shares followed suit and made a similar application.

In March 2026, Grayscale joined the fray, bringing the total number of issuers to three. Both Bitwise and Grayscale plan to include a $HYPE staking feature in the future.

If approved, $HYPE will join BTC, Ethereum [ETH], and Solana [$SOL] as top crypto assets that enjoy massive interest from treasury firms and ETF investors.

Will Hyperliquid’s priority fees boost $HYPE?

In another development, Hyperliquid is testing a feature that would allow traders who want faster execution to pay a little fee (priority fees) for HIP-3 trades (oil, gold, and other non-crypto assets).

This would be a welcome update that is already live on most Solana apps like Jupiter [JUP], which grants the most advanced traders and firms priority order execution.

This became a game-changer, reducing the infamous Solana network congestion. In return, the charged priority fees, paid in $SOL, are shared with validators.

For Hyperliquid, however, the priority fees, paid in $HYPE, will be used for buyback and token burns.

That said, $HYPE token has bounced about 20% in April and could retest the recent high of $43 and eye the $50 psychological level.

Bitcoin 23 Bar Theory: What Happens To The BTC Price If The Bottom Is In?

Over the years, there have been different metrics, technicals, and ways in which investors have tried to predict the Bitcoin price bottom with each bear market. Some of these have reportedly done so with some accuracy, while others have seen a deviation. Recently, a pseudonymous crypto analyst who goes by @cryptocupra on the X (formerly Twitter) platform has shared their own bottom prediction, using a 23-Bar Theory.

How Bitcoin Bottoms Go In The Past

In the post shared on the social media platform, the crypto analyst explained that there have been 23 bars that have predicted the bottom of each Bitcoin bear cycle. Apparently, these 23 bars have been accurate over the last three cycles, and thus, could end up predicting another bottom this time around.

The analyst explains this theory using the Bitcoin 1-month chart, showing how many monthly bars it takes until the bottom is in. Going deep into the past, the crypto analyst points out the first iteration of this 23-bar theory taking place back in the 2014 bear market. This 23-month period, approximately 2 years, is shown in the analysis to be an expansion phase, often acting as a launchpad for the price into the next bull market.

Counting out the monthly closes, it shows that there was a total of 23 monthly bar closes before the bottom was in. Following this, the Bitcoin price rebounded, and this move inevitably led to the beginning of the next bull market cycle.

Then again, the crypto analyst says this repeats itself in the 2018 bull market. Like in 2014, there were a total of 21-23 monthly bars, and once these were complete, the crypto analyst says the bottom was in, and then the next rally began.

Iran war oil-price shock revives inflation trade and a new stablecoin play


As the war with Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz send oil prices higher, inflation is once again at the forefront of investors' minds.

In the U.S., inflation accelerated last month to 0.9%, driven mostly by energy costs linked to the Middle East conflict; core inflation, which excludes energy and food costs, surprisingly fell short of estimates. February's headline increase was just 0.3%.

For Michael Ashton, co-founder of the USDi stablecoin along with Andrew Fately, the figures underscore a flaw in crypto’s monetary architecture.

“The stablecoin boom has accidentally rebuilt only half of the monetary system,” Ashton told CoinDesk in an interview. “Stablecoins solved the medium-of-exchange problem for crypto, but nobody solved the store-of-value problem. USDi is the first serious attempt to finish building the monetary system onchain."

The $300 billion stablecoin market, dominated by dollar-pegged tokens, has become essential plumbing for crypto trading and payments. But those tokens, typically backed by cash or Treasury bills, are designed to hold a nominal value of $1, not preserve purchasing power. In real terms, Ashton argues, they are losing value.

“As stablecoins graduate from crypto-trading tools to genuine payment infrastructure, the store-of-value gap becomes a real institutional concern, not just a philosophical one," he said. "Treasurers, neobanks, and cross-border payment platforms holding float in stablecoins are quietly taking inflation risk they probably haven't priced."

USDi is an attempt to fill that gap.

Instead of tracking the dollar, the token is designed to track inflation itself. Its value increases in line with changes in the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI), effectively making it a blockchain-native version of an inflation-protected principal.
