US Sources Issue Hot Statement: Iran-US Ceasefire Likely to Be Extended for Another Two Week

As diplomatic talks intensify in the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, the possibility of extending the current ceasefire has come to the fore.

According to sources close to the matter, the option of extending the ceasefire, which is set to end on Tuesday, for another two weeks is on the table. This move is said to aim at buying time for negotiations toward a lasting peace agreement.

Diplomatic mediators are trying to organize technical talks to address the most critical issues between the parties. These issues include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for the global energy supply, and Iran’s nuclear enrichment activities. If these technical contacts are successful, it could pave the way for a new round of negotiations between high-level officials.

However, there is no definitive decision yet on extending the ceasefire. A US official stated that the Washington administration has not yet officially approved this option. The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not respond to a request for comment on the matter. Nevertheless, another source familiar with the negotiations said that neither the US nor Iran wants a renewed large-scale conflict.

Bitcoin faces $240B demand shock as ‘surprise’ tax refunds and new IRS crypto rules arrive

Tax season is now more connected to Bitcoin’s retail demand.

Bitcoin has spent the first half of April trading in the low $70,000s, with recent moves through the $71,000 to $75,000 zone keeping the asset close enough to its highs for retail attention to return quickly.

But there’s a more important change happening beneath the surface.

A lot of household cash is moving through the U.S. financial system as today's April 15 tax deadline arrives. This year, tax season is also more complicated for people who own crypto.

This overlap creates a more interesting situation than the usual talk about ETFs or the broader economy.

Recent IRS statistics show just how big the refund channel is now.

By April 3, the IRS had sent out 69.8 million refunds, up 3.1% from last year. The total amount refunded was $241.7 billion, a 14.5% increase, and the average refund rose 11.1% to $3,462.

Direct deposit refunds stood out even more.

The IRS reported 70.3 million direct deposit refunds, totaling $242.9 billion. The average direct deposit refund was $3,454.

That’s real money landing in household accounts at a time when Bitcoin is liquid, easy to access, and familiar enough that even a small investment feels possible for people who follow the market.

This link gets even stronger as the tax deadline approaches.

A recent MarketWatch report said the average refund is now about $351 higher than last year. The IRS has also received over a million fewer returns compared to this time last year.

The same report pointed to late-arriving forms and new crypto reporting rules as reasons for the slower pace of filings.

Together, these factors are changing how people talk about Bitcoin.

TeraWulf stock declines on $900 million share sale to fund AI data center expansion

TeraWulf (WULF), a US data center operator focused on bitcoin mining and AI computing, saw its shares drop early Wednesday, after the company announced a $900 million capital raise.


The firm priced 47.4 million shares at $19 each. WULF is down 5.8% to $19.73 in early trading. The underwriter greenshoe option is for an additional 7 million shares.

Alongside other AI infrastructure names, WULF has been on a scorching run, rising more than 50% since late March.

The proceeds are earmarked for funding the construction of a major data center campus in Hawesville, Kentucky, alongside repaying outstanding bridge financing and supporting future expansion.

Preliminary Q1 results

Alongside the offering, TeraWulf released preliminary first-quarter 2026 results. The company expects revenue between $30 million and $35 million. The balance sheet showed $3.1 billion in cash and $5.8 billion in total debt.

Management highlighted a growing shift toward contracted HPC hosting revenues, which now account for over half of total revenue, positioning the business for more stable, long-term cash flows.

Compass Point analyst Michael Donovan, who has a Buy rating and a $28 price target on WULF, pointed to the shift in mix toward HPC as a positive inflection point for the business, with contracted hosting revenue overtaking bitcoin mining for the first time. He also views the capital raise as a necessary step to unlock the next phase of growth. While acknowledging the dilution, he said the added funding improves visibility into the buildout of the Kentucky site, which he expects to be developed in phases based on customer demand. He added that demand for TeraWulf's power and hosting capacity remains strong.

Looking ahead, Donovan expects the company's revenue profile to change meaningfully as HPC scales.
