According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS OCR), Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians reported a data breach affecting approximately 50,640 individuals following unauthorized access to its network server.
Sensitive Medical and Financial Data Exposed
A forensic investigation, referenced by HIPAA Journal, found that attackers gained access to internal systems on February 2, 2026, including a database containing protected health information.
The compromised data may have included:
Full names and dates of birth
Contact details
Social Security numbers
Medical record numbers
Diagnoses and treatment histories
Health insurance information
In some cases, the exposed records may have also included financial data such as debit or credit card numbers and PINs — significantly increasing the risk to affected individuals.
Ransomware Group Claims Responsibility
Reports indicate that a ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack, listing the organization on a dark web leak site after a ransom demand was not met. The group allegedly published stolen data online, a common tactic used to pressure victims into payment.
Response and Investigation
Following the breach, Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians engaged external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and strengthen its security systems.

Russia introduces bill to criminalize unregistered crypto Russia’s government submitted a bill to its parliament’s lower house in an effort to amend the country's legal code to attach criminal liability for crypto services offered without regulatory approval or licensing.

In a draft law sent to the State Duma on Friday, Russian lawmakers proposed that entities "carrying out activities related to the organization of digital currency circulation,” that operate without a license from Russia’s central bank, could be subject to criminal liability.
Without registration with the Bank of Russia, individuals could face up to $4,000 in fines and up to four years in prison, or more severe penalties if part of an organized group.
