$XRP could be gearing up for a move ahead of the 2026 midterms, and crypto analyst Zach Rector breaks down what’s going on behind the scenes.

He points out that markets are currently stuck in a “liquidity squeeze,” driven by rising global debt, geopolitical tensions, and capital outflows, something even the IMF has flagged. Add to that the yen carry trade unwind, private credit stress, and oil price swings from Middle East tensions, and it’s creating a broader “global margin call,” where assets, including crypto, face selling pressure.

At the same time, inflation is picking up again, with the U.S. PPI hitting around 4%. Interestingly, he said that liquidity isn’t gone; central bank balance sheets hint it’s already creeping back quietly.

Still, he keeps the sentiments slow: expect a “drop before the pop.” A deeper shakeout could come before things turn bullish.

Reason 1: Liquidity Injection & Lower Rates

The first trigger is the central bank’s participation. With economic stress building, he expects rate cuts and fresh liquidity injections. A new Fed chair is also expected soon, potentially accelerating this change. More liquidity means more capital flowing into risk assets like $XRP.

Reason 2: Clarity Act & Regulatory Green Light

The second trigger is regulation. The Clarity Act is moving forward, and recent SEC guidance has already opened doors for builders on the $XRP Ledger. This removes a major roadblock that held back development for years.

With compliance already built into the system, $XRP stands in a strong position as institutions look for legally clear platforms.

Tether has named itself as a backer of the publicly-traded holding company Stablecoin Development Corporation’s previously announced $134 million fundraise, according to a release on Wednesday.

SDEV, the firm’s NYSE American ticker and frequent abbreviation, is designed to provide public market investors with structured exposure to the stablecoin sector, including through its strategic position in Sky (formerly MakerDAO). 

The firm holds SKY, the governance token for the Sky Protocol, and uses Sky's USDS stablecoin, the third-largest stablecoin by market capitalization and the largest that’s fully onchain. 

As of March 31, the SDEV holds approximately 2.15 billion SKY tokens, representing approximately 9.15% of the total token supply.

Tether’s release on Wednesday also notes SDEV works to identify “how stablecoins and decentralized finance are used in practice” and the ways to reduce user adoption friction. 

“Stablecoins are already being used far beyond trading, especially in places where traditional systems don’t work well,” Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in a statement. “What matters now is making that infrastructure more reliable and easier to use, so people can rely on it day to day. The next phase of adoption will be driven by systems that make digital assets practical and accessible for everyday use.”

Pakistan has lifted its 2018 crypto banking ban, allowing licensed firms access to banking services under strict regulation while still prohibiting banks from directly holding or trading digital assets.

Pakistan’s central bank has formally reversed its long-standing ban on banking services for cryptocurrency firms, allowing regulated banks to open accounts for licensed virtual asset service providers (VASPs) under a new legal framework.

The decision, announced in a circular by the State Bank of Pakistan and reported by Reuters, follows the enactment of the Virtual Assets Act 2026 and marks the country’s first structured move to integrate digital asset businesses into its formal financial system.

“This is a foundational step in bringing virtual assets into the formal financial system of Pakistan,” said Bilal bin Saqib, chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, in an official statement.

Under the new rules, banks can provide basic financial services to crypto firms, but must first verify that the entities are licensed by PVARA. Strict safeguards have been put in place to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing standards.

Banks are required to conduct full due diligence, maintain updated risk profiles for VASP clients, and report suspicious transactions to regulators.

They must also ensure that client funds are held in segregated, non-interest-bearing accounts denominated in Pakistani rupees. The commingling of customer and company funds is strictly prohibited.

Paxos Labs’ Amplify plans

Amplify is a new stack by Paxos Labs that allows users to mint, earn, and borrow assets. For institutions, Amplify aims to help apps and other fintechs make on-chain assets more productive.

The end goal? Empower users to earn yield.

Commenting on the update, Bhau Kotecha, Co-Founder of Paxos Labs, said,
