Solana continues strengthening the case for wider institutional adoption. Helas, a Solana-based project, is testing private transactions on the network. The technology could help users access payments and DeFi with greater confidentiality. That feature could attract institutions handling sensitive financial information. Selective disclosure could still support compliance in regulated markets. Solana also recorded $8.8 million in daily net ETF inflows. Santiment identified the figure as the strongest inflow since May 12. Meanwhile, SOL has remained mostly flat despite stronger network activity. RWA markets, stablecoin supply, tokenized equities, and perpetuals have reached major milestones. The key question now concerns whether stronger adoption can support another sustained move higher. Traders may also watch volume closely for signs of renewed buying pressure.

Circle Mint Expands Local Currency USDC On- and Off-Ramps to Eight Currencies

Circle has expanded Circle Mint to support direct local-currency $USDC on- and off-ramps across eight currencies. The company said in an Aug. 18 post that foreign exchange is handled inside Mint, removing the need for a separate conversion step or pre-funding additional accounts.

Alongside USD and EUR, Circle listed the Brazilian real, British pound, Hong Kong dollar, Mexican peso, offshore Chinese yuan and Singapore dollar among the local currencies supported for eligible Mint account holders.

How the proposed flow works
Circle says customers can activate cross-currency exchange, link a bank account for the local-currency side and register that account for the currency they intend to trade. The company describes each transaction as a quote, trade and settlement process, with $USDC arriving in the Mint balance after conversion.

Circle says settlement uses local payment rails nearly around the clock where supported.  Availability remains subject to jurisdiction and account eligibility, and the company notes that some account-registration steps are handled offline.

Not a retail bank account

The update is directed at businesses and eligible Mint customers, including payment providers, financial institutions and fintechs. Circle states that Circle Mint is not a bank account and that funds are not protected by FDIC, SIPC or comparable government insurance.

The announcement is a Circle product update. It does not mean all currencies, regions or users have identical access, so institutions need to check Mint eligibility and local requirements before relying on the new routes.

Ripple backs an RLUSD credit fund amid XRP's best week in months

Ripple is backing a new institutional credit fund that will lend its $RLUSD stablecoin to fintech and payments companies on the $XRP Ledger, alongside lending platform Clearpool and credit manager Cicada Partners.

The fund will provide working-capital loans denominated in $RLUSD, per a release shared with CoinDesk, with Cicada sourcing borrowers, setting loan terms and monitoring credit risk. Clearpool is building the infrastructure used to create and manage the lending pools, while Ripple provides capital as an investor alongside other institutions.

Neither the size of the fund nor Ripple's commitment was disclosed.

None of it is live on the $XRP Ledger's main network yet, however. Clearpool is testing the integration on a development network, and the two ledger features underpinning the product, a lending protocol known as XLS-66 and single asset vaults under XLS-65, are still going through the network's amendment voting process, as CoinDesk earlier reported.

Those two do the work the fund needs. The lending protocol handles issuing and repaying loans directly on the ledger. The vault system pools money from several lenders under a manager who decides where it goes, which in this case is Cicada.

The firm says it has underwritten more than $860 million of credit and will act as both fund general partner and credit-pool manager. Clearpool says it has facilitated more than $930 million of institutional loans since 2021.

Ripple participates as a limited partner on the same terms as other investors rather than guaranteeing losses.

Borrowers receive $RLUSD and repay in it, which creates demand for Ripple's dollar-pegged token while moving lending activity onto XRPL. $XRP is not what gets lent, however, as it solely covers transaction fees and the minimum balances the ledger requires accounts to hold.

President Donald Trump said CFTC Chair Mike Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid into the U.S. He said the process would happen in a “fully compliant and legal fashion.”

Because Aster directly competes with Hyperliquid, traders appeared to treat the news as a sector-wide catalyst. Trading Volume and Funding Rate also increased, placing $0.67 and $0.80 under focus.

Could Hyperliquid’s U.S. entry help Aster?
Trump’s comments strengthened optimism across the already bullish crypto market. Hyperliquid’s compliant U.S. entry could signal a more accommodating environment for decentralized derivatives.

As a perpetual futures DEX backed by Changpeng Zhao [CZ], Aster could benefit from greater sector-wide attention and capital.

Zhao recently argued that any preferential treatment granted to one firm should extend across the industry. This makes $ASTER’s rally unusual: Traders are pricing a rival’s regulatory progress as Aster’s opportunity.

Does Aster’s volume confirm the rally?
$ASTER’s Trading Volume climbed from $55 million to $152 million over 24 hours, nearly tripling. The expansion confirmed stronger participation behind the 10% price gain.

Sustained Trading Volume could help $ASTER challenge $0.67. However, volume must now survive beyond the regulatory headline.

Are $ASTER traders becoming too bullish?
Derivatives positioning also leaned bullish.

$ASTER’s OI-Weighted Funding Rate stood at 0.0069%, meaning Longs paid Shorts to maintain their positions. The positive reading reflected a modest long bias.

Further increases could crowd Longs and raise liquidation risk during a reversal. Funding confirmed optimism. It also showed where the rally could become vulnerable if price stalled.
