Bitcoin extends 7-day advance to roughly 25%Bitcoin $BTC$79,831.30 climbed more than 4% over the past 24 hours to cross the $80,000 level for the first time since May and extending its seven-day advance to roughly 25%. The wider CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index added 2.7% on the day.

The crypto rally started last week after the U.S. Treasury said it would at least double the size of buybacks of long-dated bonds, and accelerated as spot crypto buying and deepening liquidity pointed to “meaningful capital deployment,” according to Glassnode.

Still, analysts at Bitfinex struck a cautious tone, noting that roughly $3 billion in crypto short positions were liquidated in two days while bitcoin network transactions remained near eight-year lows.

Gold, meanwhile, kept climbing. It’s now at a three-month high of $4,650 an ounce, while Brent crude shed more than 2% in the past 24 hours as markets appear to dismiss the U.S.’ widening crackdown on Iran through its “economic D-Day.”

Derivatives Positioning
The crypto rally has paused since the Asian trading session. Even so, futures positioning remains firmly bullish, with long positions accounting for more than 51% of total taker flow. Takers are traders who remove liquidity from the order book by executing orders at the best available prices.
Bitcoin traders have little appetite for leverage. Total $BTC futures open interest remains in the low-700,000 $BTC range after falling sharply during last week’s rally, when a large number of short — or bearish — positions were squeezed out. Bitcoin's surging price faces 1 key level that could signal if the bear market is really overBitcoin $BTC$79,380.27 has surged by 25% to $80,000 in a week. Still, one bastion needs to fall before the bulls can claim victory.

That hurdle is the simple moving average price over the past 50 weeks, currently around $81,087. Historically, reclaiming this level has been one of the clearest signs that a bear market is actually over, not just pausing.

"11 of 13 times BTCUSD reclaimed the 50w MA during completed bear markets, the bear-market low was in. It currently sits around $82k. If BTCUSD reclaims it on weekly close, history suggests the bear market would likely be over," Galaxy Research said.

Moving averages are tracked by traders and analysts to gauge momentum across different timeframes. Among the most widely followed are the 50-, 100-, and 200-period averages across daily, weekly, and other timeframes. Because so many market participants watch the same levels, they tend to become self-fulfilling, acting as real support and resistance simply because enough traders treat them that way.

While the 50-week figure is still out of reach, the price has already blown through all three of the key averages on the daily time frame, in a move Dan Tapiero, the founder of 50T Funds, called an "extreme momentous break up in $BTC and complex." 50T is a multibillion-dollar private growth equity fund investing in mid-to-late stage digital asset companies.

Tapiero added that the cycle low is already in. "Hardest thing to buy here if you aren't long already. Greatest amount of pain is back to 100k immediately,” he noted. Others observers echoed similar sentiments on social media.

BlackRock, one of the world’s largest asset management companies, has made a notable purchase in the cryptocurrency market. According to On-Chain data shared by Onchain Lens, the company acquired approximately $240 million worth of Bitcoin ($BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH). The assets were reportedly transferred to wallets linked to BlackRock’s cryptocurrency-focused ETF products.

According to the data, BlackRock’s purchases included a total of 2,802,904 $BTC and 6,580 $ETH. The total value of these crypto assets is estimated to be approximately $240 million. Following the transactions, the assets were sent to wallets associated with BlackRock’s spot crypto ETFs traded on the US market.

It was reported that Bitcoin assets were moved to wallets linked to the spot Bitcoin ETF known as IBIT, while Ethereum transfers were moved to wallets linked to the ETHA and staking-enabled ETHB ETFs. These transfers allowed institutional investors to more closely monitor their cryptocurrency market activities through on-chain data.

BlackRock’s weight in the crypto asset market has increased significantly, particularly since its spot ETF products began trading in the US. The company’s IBIT product stands out as one of the largest spot ETFs providing institutional access to Bitcoin, while its Ethereum products facilitate investor access to the second-largest crypto asset through traditional financial markets.

The latest purchase is seen as one of the signs that institutional demand for Bitcoin and Ethereum continues. Capital flowing into the market through ETF products is also closely monitored in terms of its impact on the price performance of crypto assets.
