Ether (ETH) led crypto majors into Monday as bitcoin held above $63,000, steadying after a week that pulled it off its lows and back to its highest in more than a month.

Bitcoin traded around $63,207, little changed on the day but up 5.5% over seven days, per CoinDesk data. Ether was the stronger performer over the week, up 12.4% to about $1,777, while BNB and dogecoin each gained around 5.5%. Solana held near $80.77 with an 11.2% weekly rise and Hyperliquid's HYPE led the majors, up 14.6% on the week. XRP traded at $1.14, up 9.4% over seven days.

The gains held even as the backdrop turned cautious. A rebound in semiconductor and technology shares lost steam, reviving doubts about how durable this year's AI-driven rally is. South Korea's Kospi fell 1.4% as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix declined, and an MSCI gauge of Asian chipmakers slipped.

Brent crude fell 0.6% to about $71.70 a barrel, easing some inflation pressure ahead of the U.S. price data due later this month.

The dollar strengthened against all its major peers, a headwind for crypto that has tracked the currency's moves through the past quarter.

That crypto stayed firm while the AI trade wobbled is the shift worth watching. For most of the past quarter, money has rotated out of crypto and into chip and AI stocks, and cracks in that trade tended to pull the token amrket down with the rest of risk.

Bitcoin begins the week having recovered the ground it lost in late June, with the next move likely to hinge on the coming inflation print and whether the majors can hold up as U.S. trading returns to full volume. Traders may assess the hold above $63,000 as the recovery's first real sign of staying power, though a still-strong dollar and an uncertain AI trade leave the market without a clear catalyst to push higher.

Analysts split on Strategy's new Bitcoin sale framework.

Strategy MSTR (formerly known as Microstrategy), the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, disclosed on Monday that it sold 3,588 Bitcoins for approximately $216 million (approx. Rs 60.4 billion) last week.

The sale was part of a newly introduced treasury framework designed to support preferred stock obligations and strengthen its cash reserves.

The software company sold 1,363 Bitcoins between June 29 and June 30 for $80.8 million (approx. Rs 22.6 billion) at an average price of $59,256 per Bitcoin.

It then sold another 2,225 Bitcoin between July 1 and July 5 for $135.2 million (approx. Rs 37.8 billion) at an average price of $60,773 per Bitcoin, according to an SEC filing.

The sales reduce Strategy's total holdings to 843,775 Bitcoin.

According to Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, the company acquired those holdings at an average purchase price of $74,476 per Bitcoin, representing a total cost of about $63.7 billion (approx. Rs 17.8 trillion), including fees and expenses.

Strategy stock fell 2% in trading on Monday after the announcement.

President Trump Signals Openness to Bitcoin in Trump Accounts, Calls Himself ‘a Big Fan of Crypto’

President Trump said Bitcoin could eventually be included in the new Trump Accounts savings program, calling himself "a big fan of crypto."

President Donald Trump said earlier today that Bitcoin could one day play a role in the new Trump Accounts savings program, telling reporters that “something could happen” when asked whether the accounts might hold the cryptocurrency.

Trump made the comments Monday during an Oval Office ceremony marking the launch of Trump Accounts. In a first-of-its-kind event, he rang the opening bells for both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq from the Oval Office, a joint bell-ringing that had never been conducted from the White House. 

He was joined by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul Atkins, leaders of the NYSE and Nasdaq, and technology executive Michael Dell and his wife, Susan, who pledged more than $6 billion to supplement the accounts. 

Pressed on whether there were plans to add Bitcoin to the accounts, Trump did not commit to a timeline but used the moment to describe his shift toward digital assets. 

“Well, I’m a big crypto. I’ve become a big crypto guy only for one reason,” he said. “If we don’t have it, China is going to have it, and they would like to have it. But now they’re not even trying that hard because we’ve taken over crypto, but I’m a fan.”

Trump said his interest developed over time. “I wasn’t initially. I didn’t know much about it, but for some of my first term I wasn’t really, I wasn’t much involved, but I’d watch,” he said. 

He credited the sector’s scale and its appeal to voters for drawing him in: “I realized there are a lot of people love crypto and even me as a businessman, I’d see a lot of money .......
