Semiconductor company ASML saw its shares dip on Wednesday morning after its China segment took a hit from new export bans. The equipment maker's China segment shrank as a percentage of net system sales. ASML stock is down over 5% at the time of writing. "Demand for chips is outpacing supply. In response, our customers are accelerating their capacity expansion plans for 2026 and beyond," said CEO Christophe Fouquet in the company's quarterly results release. In its latest guidance for Q2, ASML raised its 2026 net sales forecast to a range of $42.46 billion to $47.18 billion. That's up from a range of $40.12 billion and $46.02 billion previously forecasted. Last week, a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers proposed a bill that would cut off ASML's sales of DUV machines to Chinese chip companies, thereby affecting its already shrinking sales there. That law still needs to work its way through the U.S. legislative process. While the Dutch chipmaker has never been allowed to sell EUV machines to China, it has long sold its lower-end deep ultraviolet, or DUV, chipmaking machines there. Circle CEO Allaire sees 'tremendous opportunity' for yuan stablecoin: report

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said there’s a “tremendous opportunity” for a yuan-pegged stablecoin, and China could launch one within the next three to five years.

Chinese authorities have explicitly banned the offshore issuance of yuan stablecoins without regulatory approval.


Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said he sees a "tremendous opportunity" for a Chinese yuan stablecoin, particularly if Chinese authorities aim to make the yuan more competitive.

In a Thursday interview with Reuters, Allaire said that stablecoins have emerged as a new way for currencies to gain global traction, potentially supporting China's long-term goal of internationalizing the yuan.

"There's a tremendous opportunity for a yuan stablecoin," Allaire told Reuters. "If there's currency competition, you want your currency to have the best features possible. This is becoming a technological competition."

Allaire added that China could launch a yuan-backed stablecoin within the next three to five years. The Block has reached out to Circle for further comment. 

Allaire's remarks come amid growing chatter about a potential yuan stablecoin. In July 2025, Chinese tech giants Ant Group and JD reportedly urged China's central bank to authorize yuan-backed stablecoins in addition to those pegged to the Hong Kong dollar.

However, Chinese authorities have taken a cautious stance. In February 2026, the People's Bank of China and a group of key regulators issued a notice explicitly prohibiting the offshore issuance of yuan-pegged stablecoins without prior regulatory approval.

Over the past 24 hours, edgeX has climbed 18%, marking a standout performance in an otherwise subdued market. The move reflects more than short-term speculation. It points to a shift in underlying market structure.

The rally appears driven by a mix of strengthening fundamentals and sustained bullish pressure. Even so, one variable continues to shape the near-term outlook.

What is driving the edgeX rally?

A major driver behind the latest move is the edgeX [$EDGE] team’s continued supply reduction strategy.

As the price advanced, the circulating supply tightened. The team deployed $838,000 in buybacks during this rally.

Since initiating the program in April, total buybacks have reached $13 million, steadily removing tokens from the open market.

This contraction in supply has coincided with rising demand. Over the same period, 610 new wallets entered the market.

While individual purchase sizes remain unclear, the influx of new holders signals expanding participation. Total holders stood at 20,600, as of press time.

Bullish flag structure signals continuation

From a technical standpoint, $EDGE continues to trade within a bullish flag pattern, a formation often linked to trend continuation.

The structure followed a strong upward move, with price consolidating within descending resistance and stable support.

Price has now approached the upper boundary of this pattern. A confirmed breakout could open the path toward the recent local high of $1.19, recorded on the 3rd of April.

Further extension remains possible if momentum holds.
