A Multi-Trillion Dollar Push for Atomic FX Settlement

Project Pangea brings together Chainlink, FairSquareLab, UniKA, and Qivalis under one strategic task force. The coalition collectively represents over $10 trillion in assets under management.

UniKA’s steering committee includes Shinhan Bank, JB Bank, Kbank, FairSquareLab, and OBDIA. More than ten additional Korean commercial banks are participating in the initiative alongside them.

The global FX market processes over $9.6 trillion in daily trading volume. Despite this scale, the traditional infrastructure remains fragmented and slow.

Cross-border transactions often require institutions to convert capital through intermediary currencies, causing delays.

Project Pangea targets this bottleneck directly through atomic Payment-versus-Payment swaps of regulated EUR and KRW stablecoins.

Chainlink Labs President of Capital Markets Fernando Vazquez described the launch as a structural shift rather than an incremental upgrade, saying the project “upgrades the fragmented foreign exchange model of today with direct, atomic currency swaps using stablecoins.”

Senator Cynthia Lummis is pressing her case for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, arguing that the legislation draws a clear legal line that writing code does not constitute money transmission. The Wyoming Republican, who chairs the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets, has made developer protection a central pillar of her push to move the bill to a full Senate vote.

What the Bill Does for Developers

At the core of Lummis's argument is Section 604 of the CLARITY Act, drawn from the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act. The provision codifies a principle from FinCEN's 2019 guidance: that developers and infrastructure providers who do not custody or control user funds are not money transmitters subject to Bank Secrecy Act registration or criminal prosecution.

Zcash miner Fortitude grabs Nasdaq route through HeartSciences dealZcash miner Fortitude Mining Holdings has secured a path to the public markets through an all-stock merger with HeartSciences, a transaction that will place the crypto mining company on the Nasdaq without a traditional IPO.

According to a joint announcement released Tuesday, Fortitude and HeartSciences have agreed to combine in a deal that will leave Fortitude’s management team in control of the merged company. The business is expected to operate under the Fortitude name and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol TUDE, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the terms of the transaction, existing HeartSciences shareholders will retain a minority ownership stake. HeartSciences, which develops AI-powered cardiac diagnostic technologies, will continue operating under the leadership of chief executive Andrew Simpson.

Explaining the decision, Simpson said the merger would help remove what he described as the “constant cycle of raising capital” while offering what the company believes is the most favorable outcome for shareholders.

Although the two companies operate in unrelated industries, the structure effectively gives Fortitude access to public equity markets through an already listed Nasdaq company.

For HeartSciences, the agreement provides continued exposure to a publicly traded entity while allowing its healthcare operations to remain active.

MiniPay launches Visa debit card for stablecoin spending MiniPay has launched a Visa debit card that allows users in selected markets across Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Europe to make purchases using stablecoins.

According to Tuesday's announcement, the card is powered by Gnosis Pay's infrastructure, enabling users to pay directly from their MiniPay wallets while merchants receive local currency through Visa's network.

MiniPay said it has grown to more than 16 million activated wallets across 65 countries since launching in 2023, with much of its adoption concentrated in Africa and other emerging markets.

The card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay, while eligible users in some markets will receive cashback rewards denominated in stablecoins USDt and $USDC, as well as Tether Gold.

MiniPay is a stablecoin wallet owned by Opera, the Nasdaq-listed software company best known for its web browser. Built on the Celo blockchain, the wallet focuses on payments, transfers and savings using dollar-backed stablecoins.
