One thing I’ve come to realize after spending years in crypto is that we’re obsessed with momentum. That includes me. Maybe it’s because many of us entered the space through stories of life-changing gains. Maybe it’s because crypto moves at a pace unlike any other industry. Or maybe it’s simply because we’ve been conditioned to measure success through charts, market caps, user growth, and whatever narrative happens to be dominating the conversation at the time.

Regardless of the reason, I’ve done some reflection and come to realize that we should start valuing longevity more than temporary momentum.

Before you say that’s coping, hear me out.

Momentum Is Easy To See

The thing about momentum is that it’s impossible to miss. When a project has momentum, everyone knows it. User numbers are growing, developers are joining, influencers are talking about it, and the charts are usually moving in the right direction. Momentum creates excitement. It creates optimism. It creates the feeling that you’re part of something important and growing. That’s one of the reasons we value it so much. It’s visible, measurable, and constantly reinforced by the people around us.

Longevity, on the other hand, is much harder to appreciate. Not many get excited because a blockchain successfully completed another protocol upgrade. Very few rush to social media because a team improved developer tooling or because a governance process worked exactly as intended. These things often happen quietly in the background, receiving little attention outside of the people directly involved. Yet over time, they become part of the foundation that allows an ecosystem to continue evolving long after the initial excitement has faded.

In the days leading up to a pivotal Senate Banking Committee vote on the CLARITY Act, the American Bankers Association mounted an extraordinary lobbying blitz, sending more than 8,000 letters to Senate offices in less than a week. The target was not the bill as a whole, much of which the banking industry can live with, but a single provision: the rules governing whether stablecoins can pay yield to the people who hold them.



To an outsider, it might seem strange that the banking industry would care so intensely about one technical clause in a crypto bill, or fight a piece of digital-asset legislation at all. But the fight is not really about crypto in the abstract.



It is about a direct competitive threat that yield-bearing stablecoins pose to the core business of banking, the gathering of deposits, and understanding that threat explains why banks have thrown their lobbying weight at a few sentences in a crypto bill.

The article also cites analysts on TradingView who expect $XRP to rise toward $3.30 and $8.50 after breaking out of a long-term symmetrical triangle pattern.

Other long-term models mentioned in the report are even more optimistic. They project $XRP could reach $12.04 in the medium term and climb to $26 by 2030 with ETF adoption.

X user Tom highlighted the article and argued that both Standard Chartered and Fidelity were pointing toward an $8 $XRP target. Citing a breakout and successful retest of a nine-year consolidation pattern, he expects $XRP to reach between $8 and $10 before year-end.

The article also highlights strong whale activity. It claimed wallets holding at least 1 million $XRP accumulated 1.53 billion tokens over the past six months. Accordingly, he claimed these wallets now control roughly 74.1% of $XRP’s circulating supply.

Notably, the data comes from a previous on-chain report from analytics firm Santiment. In May, The Crypto Basic reported that $XRP whale wallets holding more than 10 million $XRP reached an 8-year high. Their holdings totaled 45.83B $XRP, about 74% of the supply, the highest since May 2018.
