According to ING’s research note, the Euro’s near-term trajectory is influenced by a combination of factors, including diverging interest rate paths between the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Federal Reserve, as well as relative economic performance. The analysts point to the possibility of the EUR/USD pair slipping to 1.140, a level not seen in several months, before finding support.

The forecast underscores the market’s focus on upcoming inflation data and central bank communications. A stronger-than-expected US economy, coupled with persistent inflation, could keep the Dollar bid, putting downward pressure on the Euro. However, ING anticipates that once these factors are fully priced in, the Euro may begin to recover ground.

The EUR/USD pair has been trading in a relatively tight range in recent weeks, with investors weighing the pace of rate cuts from the ECB against the Fed’s cautious stance. ING’s view suggests that while the Euro may face short-term headwinds, the medium-term outlook remains more balanced.

In a letter sent over the weekend to the House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith and top Democrat Richard Neal, the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation and The Digital Chamber said the Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act is “essential.”
A coalition of digital asset advocacy groups representing some of the cryptocurrency industry's largest exchanges and platforms is urging Congress to pass a tax bill without revisions, saying the measure would provide long-sought clarity on the treatment of mining and staking rewards.

In a letter sent over the weekend to the House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith and top Democrat Richard Neal, the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation and The Digital Chamber said the legislation is "essential."

"The tax code currently fails to account for how miners and stakers create and interact with assets, and this bill provides much-needed clarity, protects U.S. competitiveness, and preserves a bipartisan compromise already established by that Congress," said The Digital Chamber CEO Cody Carbone.

Earlier this month, the House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing to debate several cryptocurrency bills, including the Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act. Over the years, the crypto industry has been pushing for staking rewards to be taxed when they are sold, not when they are created.

The new bill defers taxation for mining and staking until the assets are sold and creates an elective process where people can choose to either pay taxes at the time of sale or at the time of receipt.

Axie Infinity [$AXS] surrendered a large portion of its recent advance after sellers stepped in near the $1.25 area and pushed the token lower.

The asset traded at $1.03 at press time, reflecting a 12.3% decline over the last 24 hours. Despite the retracement, market activity intensified rather than faded.

Former bitcoin miner Hut 8 (HUT) agreed to pay $2.35 million to settle a securities class action alleging it misled investors in connection with its 2023 merger with U.S. Bitcoin Corp. (USBTC).

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, focused on Hut 8's all-stock merger with USBTC, which closed in November 2023.

Investors alleged the company, which now focuses on AI data centers and high-performance computing, overstated the transaction's benefits while failing to disclose persistent energy curtailment and internet connectivity issues at King Mountain, a Texas bitcoin mining joint venture in which USBTC held a 50% interest.

The litigation gained momentum after short seller J Capital Research published a critical report in January 2024, prompting a slide of more than 23% in Hut 8's share price.

According to a court filing, the $2.35 million recovery represents roughly 19.6% of the estimated maximum recoverable damages, exceeding the 12.9% median and 14.6% average recovery rates for Securities Act-only settlements in 2025.
