Elon Musk has long been a supporter of Dogecoin (DOGE), the original meme coin and still the largest by market cap. He first mentioned it in 2019, calling it one of his favorite cryptocurrencies. Since then, Dogecoin’s price has repeatedly surged on Musk-related headlines, including his 2021 appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The Dogecoin “moon mission”

The latest catalyst is tied to SpaceX and the long-delayed DOGE-1 lunar mission.

Musk originally tweeted in April 2021 that SpaceX would “put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon.” The statement was later confirmed as an actual project rather than a joke.

In May 2021, Geometric Energy Corp. booked a lunar mission via SpaceX’s rideshare program, which includes an 88-pound CubeSat named DOGE-1. The mission was fully paid for in Dogecoin.

The launch was originally scheduled for 2022 but has been postponed multiple times. It is now currently expected to launch on September 14, 2026.

But there’s a catch

Despite the strong hype potential, there is no guarantee that the mission will have a lasting impact on DOGE’s price. The launch has been repeatedly delayed, and crypto markets today are generally less reactive to hype-driven news than in previous cycles.

Even if the mission eventually launches, its effect may be more of a short-term sentiment spike rather than a sustained price rally.

Traditional finance giant Franklin Templeton, which boasts an eye-popping $1.78 trillion in assets under management (AUM), has closed its acquisition of 250 Digital, according to a Monday announcement. After wrapping up the deal, the New York-based investment firm has now announced the launch of Franklin Crypto, which is a new asset division aimed at sovereign wealth funds, pensions, and so on. The firm is no longer just toying with crypto, given that it is now running active cryptocurrency strategies with a tech stack that heavily features the XRP Ledger (XRP), Stellar (XLM), Polygon (MATIC), and Aptos (APT).

Demand for $XRP spot ETFs picked up on June 22, with net inflows hitting $5.31 million, the strongest single-day figure in two weeks, according to data from SoSoValue Crypto.

Bitwise Carries the Load

The entire $5.31 million came from a single fund. Bitwise's XRP ETF, listed on NYSE Arca, gave investors a regulated vehicle for direct XRP price exposure. The fund launched in November 2025 and is sponsored and managed by Bitwise Investment Advisers.

The last time daily inflows surpassed June 22's figure was June 9, when the broader XRP spot ETF category pulled in $7.44 million across all products.

The asset has finally staged a rebound, and it will be interesting to see whether this proves to be only a temporary surge followed by a renewed pullback, or the beginning of a more meaningful rally.

Earlier in June, the broader crypto market collapsed, and PI was not an exception. Its valuation hit a new all-time low of $0.12, while its market capitalization briefly fell below $1.3 billion. The past two weeks saw a slight recovery, with PI spiking by roughly 6% to its current level of $0.135 (per CoinGecko’s data).

Still, several market observers caution this might not be cause for celebration. X user Crypto With Gopal spotted the formation of a classic “head and shoulders pattern” on PI’s price chart: a bearish structure which suggests that a correction could be on the horizon. At the same time, the analyst claimed that buyers are fighting to defend the neckline “aggressively and bulls are trying to reclaim momentum.”

“Market psychology shows sellers losing strength as the right shoulder develops,” they added.

Another prediction came from the X account Pi Network News, which noted PI’s bounce from the $0.13 support level and claimed that $0.14 remains “a key sell wall.” They argued that bulls need Bitcoin (BTC) to hold above $60,000 so PI can benefit, too.

“Next resistance: $0.15–$0.155 if momentum builds,” the analysis reads.
