Groq raises $650 million for AI inference cloud after Nvidia licensing dealGroq raised $650 million to expand its inference cloud business six months after licensing its semiconductor technology to Nvidia and losing its founder.

The funding round was led by Disruptive and Infinitum. Groq’s press announcement said existing investors also participated.

The company did not disclose a new valuation. Groq was valued at $6.9 billion after its September $750 million fundraising round.

Groq pivots to cloud infrastructure after Nvidia deal
In December 2025, Nvidia signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement for Groq’s language processing unit (LPU) technology, a chip designed specifically for running AI models.

As part of that arrangement, Nvidia hired away Groq co-founder and CEO Jonathan Ross, president Sunny Madra, and other staff.

Nvidia went on to unveil its own hardware system built on the licensed technology, the LPX inference platform, at its GTC conference in March.

Groq has repositioned around its cloud infrastructure business. The company runs 13 data centers spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, serving over five million developers and processing trillions of AI tokens per week, per its press release.

The newest inference hardware from Groq, which includes Nvidia’s LPX systems, will be deployed across existing data centers with the assistance of the new capital. Groq stated that its objective is to achieve 200 megawatts of capacity by the end of 2027

That control raises concern because the market's funding rate has flipped to a negative 0.0028%, suggesting most perpetual-market capital sits in short positions. The spot cumulative volume delta tells a similar story, with selling volume outpacing buying. The spot CVD shows taker sellers dominating the market, a trend that has held for weeks alongside BCH's decline.

If the metric stays in that bearish direction, it would weigh on price and could extend BCH's losses well below current levels, though it does not confirm a fall to $100.

Challenge Secret Network's Axelar Bridge Drained $4.67M via Infinite-Mint FlawSecret Network's cross-chain bridge to Axelar has been suspended after an attacker exploited a years-old minting flaw to drain $4.67 million in wrapped tokens over seven undetected days.

Both teams disclosed the incident on June 19, confirming approximately $4.67 million in assets were taken from the bridge's Axelar-to-Secret IBC connection. The attack itself began on June 10 but went unnoticed for seven days until a routine cross-chain transfer failed because the bridge's escrow account had been depleted.

Minting Flaw

The vulnerability lived in a modified CW20-ICS20 smart contract deployed on Secret Network for the Axelar bridge connection. Security research firm Common Prefix published a technical breakdown of the incident, finding that two critical validation checks had been commented out from the contract's packet-receive function: one that should have verified incoming token denominations against the legitimate source channel, and one that should have capped outflows to amounts genuinely held in escrow.

The flaw dates to the contract's initial deployment in March 2023 and survived a migration on March 5, 2026 that updated the bytecode for new features but preserved the missing checks. Secret Network's default transaction encryption obscured the growing shortfall from on-chain observers; the attack ran for seven days before a failed transfer surfaced it.

Synthetix Governance Votes to Retire sUSD, Pay Holders in Vested SNX

Synthetix governance has moved to retire sUSD, proposing to pay all holders back at face value in vested $SNX under SIP-423, introduced June 12. The stablecoin now trades at roughly $0.25 against its $1.00 target, per CoinGecko and DefiLlama.

Synthetix founder Kain Warwick and core contributor Benjamin Celermajer authored the proposal. Under SIP-423, the sUSD contract would be frozen and deprecated. Each eligible sUSD holder would receive four $SNX tokens per sUSD, at a conversion that values $SNX at $0.25 and sUSD at its intended $1.00 face value. The $SNX tokens carry a one-year lock followed by a one-year linear vest from the freeze date. The claim window opens approximately one year after the freeze.

Four Components

SIP-423 has four parts. First, a holder snapshot: an audit of all sUSD balances on Ethereum and Optimism at a governance-defined cutoff block. Second, the sUSD retirement itself. Third, a restructure of the existing Debt Jubilee under SIP-420, which would close the 420 Pool, remove sUSD staking ratio requirements, and give existing debt participants the choice of a four-year lock with a one-year vest, or an early exit by repaying their remaining debt in full. The fourth component, $SNX staking reform, is deferred to a separate build.

A contingent $USDT path is included: if Synthetix generates more than $10 million in protocol revenue within the two-year lock-up period, 25% of that revenue can be distributed as $USDT to legacy sUSD holders who prefer cash over $SNX. Both the $10 million threshold and the 25% share are adjustable by the Spartan Council via SCCP
