2026 World Cup Posting Challenge on HTX Square

Groq raised $650 million to expand its inference cloud business six months after licensing its semiconductor technology to Nvidia and losing its founder.

The funding round was led by Disruptive and Infinitum. Groq’s press announcement said existing investors also participated.

The company did not disclose a new valuation. Groq was valued at $6.9 billion after its September $750 million fundraising round.

Groq pivots to cloud infrastructure after Nvidia deal
In December 2025, Nvidia signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement for Groq’s language processing unit (LPU) technology, a chip designed specifically for running AI models.

As part of that arrangement, Nvidia hired away Groq co-founder and CEO Jonathan Ross, president Sunny Madra, and other staff.

Nvidia went on to unveil its own hardware system built on the licensed technology, the LPX inference platform, at its GTC conference in March.

Groq has repositioned around its cloud infrastructure business. The company runs 13 data centers spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, serving over five million developers and processing trillions of AI tokens per week, per its press release.

The newest inference hardware from Groq, which includes Nvidia’s LPX systems, will be deployed across existing data centers with the assistance of the new capital. Groq stated that its objective is to achieve 200 megawatts of capacity by the end of 2027.

Strategy purchased 520 bitcoin for $35 million last week, increasing its holdings to 847,363 BTC while raising its USD Reserve by $335 million to $1.4 billion.
Strategy Inc. disclosed Monday it acquired 520 bitcoin for approximately $35 million in its third straight weekly purchase, bringing total holdings to 847,363 BTC while expanding its cash war chest to support growing obligations tied to its preferred stock program.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor announced the transaction on X Monday morning, noting that the company also increased its USD Reserve by $335 million to $1.4 billion. The company sold roughly 2.7 million shares of MSTR, according to a Monday morning filing, raising that $335.5 million.
The reserve, first established in December 2025, exists to fund dividend payments on Strategy’s preferred equity securities and interest on its debt — a financial cushion the company has built as its capital structure grows more complex.
The purchase was smaller than the prior two weeks. Strategy acquired 1,550 BTC for $101 million in the week ending June 7, then 1,587 BTC for $100 million in the week ending June 14. The 520-coin tranche at an average price of $67,068 per coin represents a step back in volume, though Saylor gave no indication it marks a change in posture.
He telegraphed the buy a day early, as has become his habit. On Sunday, he posted to X: “Looks better with more dots.” Followers of Strategy’s weekly announcement cycle have come to treat the phrase as a near-certain preview of a Monday purchase disclosure.
Saylor also used the weekend to address tensions inside the Bitcoin community. “Bitcoiners agree on the 99% that matters,” he wrote on X Sunday. “We shouldn’t let the 1% divide us while nearly all global capital has.....
