From a technical view, Bitcoin has been consolidating around $60k for nearly two weeks, which could be a sign that buyers are finally stepping in.

According to market makers, dip buyers historically accumulated around this cost-basis, helping Bitcoin establish a floor before smart money triggers a rebound.

However, recent whale activity paints a different picture. One analyst spotted a whale who just sold 800 BTC, locking in a loss of around $35 million.

The investor bought the entire position near last November’s peak at roughly $107,000 per coin, held through seven months of downside, and finally sold today at around $62k.

A former Ethereum Foundation contributor has warned that Ethereum’s development ecosystem could face a funding crunch within the next three to nine months. This raises concerns about the network’s ability to continue delivering major upgrades and long-term innovation.

Trent VanEpps, who worked at the Ethereum Foundation from 2021 to 2026, said Ethereum may be heading toward a “slow-burning funding crisis.” He explained that this will happen as key funding sources begin to dry up.

According to him, the issue goes beyond a temporary budget gap. It points to deeper structural challenges around how Ethereum funds and supports its core contributors.

VanEpps estimates that Ethereum’s core development ecosystem requires roughly $30 million per year to support client teams, researchers, coordinators, and protocol developers. He argued that this is a relatively small cost considering the scale of the network. Furthermore, the resources these teams maintain are significant.

However, two major changes are putting pressure on funding.

First, the Ethereum Foundation has been reducing its spending. In 2025, the Foundation introduced a treasury plan aimed at lowering annual spending from 15% to around 5% by 2030. This is meant to preserve its remaining funds.

Second, Ethereum’s Client Incentive Program (CIP), a four-year initiative that helped fund client teams through staking rewards, expired in April 2026. So far, no replacement program has been announced.

According to VanEpps, these changes could leave important development teams without stable funding in the coming months.

A major part of the discussion revolves around the Ethereum Foundation’s long-standing philosophy called “Subtraction.”

Charles Hoskinson has returned with a plan to repair Cardano’s stalled governance system. The market is still unconvinced, as ADA price remains near $0.16, down 35% in a month. 

The Cardano founder spent three videos in mid-June arguing that the network needs a new decision-making structure, a moderated Discord, and a voting bloc with enough power to pressure funding applicants into public accountability.

ADA holders have answered with the chart. The token remains near five-year lows after a steep monthly decline, even as Hoskinson says Cardano is approaching a decisive moment.

Cardano’s Governance Crisis Comes With a Price Tag

The backdrop is ugly. ADA has fallen roughly 32% over the past 30 days, while Cardano’s market value has slipped to about $6.3 billion.

The decline has arrived alongside deeper ecosystem stress. Analytics platform TapTools is winding down. Other Cardano builders have also stepped back. DRep fatigue has spread as governance votes become more contentious.

Hoskinson says the system has hit a bottleneck. By his count, Cardano faces more than 600 million ADA in funding requests against a 350 million ADA net change limit, with no agreed strategy to decide what should come first.

The failed treasury vote for a 2026 Cardano summit added to the tension. Several Delegated Representatives have also stepped back from active governance, feeding the view that Cardano’s new political system is already straining.
