Tokenized stocks emerged as the fastest-growing crypto coin category between January 2024 and May 2026, according to a new CoinGecko report tracking the number of coins listed across major sectors.

The category expanded by a whopping 3,314.3% during the period, after rising from just 14 listed coins to 478.

Crypto’s Fastest-Growing Category

Real World Assets (RWA) followed closely as another major growth area, as it increased by 1,903.1% from 64 coins to 1,282. The sharp rise in both categories highlights growing interest in bringing traditional financial assets onto blockchain networks. CoinGecko said that the shift toward real-world asset tokenization accelerated significantly from late 2024 onward.

Despite these emerging trends, Decentralized Finance (DeFi) remained the largest non-meme crypto category by the end of the study period. The number of DeFi-related coins climbed from 549 in January 2024 to 2,328 by May 2026, which represented growth of 324.0%.

Another major theme during the period was the rapid expansion of AI-related coin listings. CoinGecko found that AI became the second-largest listed category on its platform after surging from 145 coins at the start of 2024 to 1,798 by May 2026, a rise of 1,140.0%.

In the process, AI overtook Gaming (GameFi), which had occupied the second spot for much of 2024. GameFi grew by almost 263% and ended the period with 1,379 listed coins. CoinGecko said the AI category gained momentum in October 2024 alongside the launch of the AI-themed meme coin Goatseus Maximus (GOAT).

The crypto landscape is going through a cautious phase, as the latest 24-hour data discloses. Hence, the total crypto market capitalization has hit $2.26T, indicating a 0.10% rise. However, the 24-hour crypto volume now stands at $73.05B, highlighting an 18.41% decrease. In the meantime, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index currently accounts for 25 points, displaying “Fear” among the market participants.

Bitcoin ($BTC) Drops by 3.19%, and Ethereum ($ETH) Sees 3.92% Decrease

Particularly, the top crypto asset, Bitcoin ($BTC), is now changing hands at $63,727.67. This price level underscores a 3.19% decrease, while the market dominance of Bitcoin ($BTC) is 58.4%. In addition to this, the flagship altcoin, Ethereum ($ETH), is trading at $1,723.97, presenting a 3.92% dip. In the meantime, Ethereum’s ($ETH) market dominance sits at 9.6%.

$BPX, $O, and $SYND Lead Crypto Gainers of Day

The list of today’s key crypto gainers includes Black Phoenix ($BPX), o1.exchange ($O), and Syndicate ($SYND). Specifically, $BPX has jumped by a stunning 2874.09%, hitting $2.71. Following that, a 745.14% increase has placed $O’s price at $0.05542. Subsequently, $SYND is now hovering around $0.02708 after a 489.64% growth.

Solana’s 285,971 holders make up about 31% of this figure, ahead of Ethereum’s 199,191 and $BNB Chain’s 101,902.

Not only are these figures impressive in their own right, but the rate of growth is even more remarkable. As reported by RWA.xyz, Solana’s RWA holder base grew by 29.3% in the last 30 days. As context, note that Solana first breached the 200,000-mark of holders in late April. This implies that Solana saw a surge of nearly 85,000 RWA holders in less than two months.

This milestone was highlighted by the RWA Foundation, an industry association dedicated to tokenized asset adoption, on June 18.

Number of asset holders alone cannot paint an entire picture of the market. Ethereum is still the leader in terms of total distributed asset value at $16.3 billion. This is more than five times bigger than Solana’s $3.0 billion, as per RWA.xyz. While $BNB chain sits in between the two platforms at $3.9 billion.

However, Solana is narrowing the gap at a much more accelerated pace. In terms of distributed RWA value, Solana has gained 14%, whereas Ethereum has fallen by 4.7% during the same period of 30 days. Another important aspect here is the transfer volume – Solana had $5.5B of RWA transfer volume during the same 30-day period, up 66.94% month-over-month, according to RWA.xyz.
