Strategy’s STRC falls to $91 as investors flinch at latest BTC buyingStrategy’s perpetual preferred stock STRC fell near record lows on Tuesday as investors seemingly balked at the company’s latest Bitcoin acquisitions.

Michael Saylor’s variable-rate perpetual “Stretch” Bitcoin yield product declined by 3.58% to $91.79 on Tuesday, 8.2% below its target value of $100. Markus Thielen, CEO of 10x Research, said the dip is linked to Strategy’s recent Bitcoin buying.

“The market would rather see MicroStrategy [Strategy] not acquiring more $BTC and rather keep the cash for dividend payments,” Thielen told Cointelegraph. “It appears traders are seeing the latest $BTC acquisition as an unsustainable path for STRC.”

Stretch is designed to return a dividend of 11.5%, trading at a par value of $100, but the current effective yield, now that the shares have dipped, is 12.5%. This means the firm may need the cash to support the yield rather than spending it to buy more $BTC.

On Monday, Strategy said it acquired 1,587 Bitcoin for around $100 million last week. The week before, it purchased 1,550 $BTC, also for about $100 million. The combined purchases brought its holdings to 846,842 Bitcoin.

Australia's High Court backs regulator in Block Earner crypto yield caseAustralia’s High Court delivered a unanimous 7-0 ruling siding with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in its appeal over Block Earner’s former fixed-yield digital asset product, finding the offering required an Australian financial services licence under existing law.

The High Court held that Web3 Ventures Pty Ltd, which trades as Block Earner, offered a product that functioned as a facility for financial investment and also qualified as a derivative because investor returns varied with the value of underlying digital assets and exchange rates, according to a court document dated June 17.

The matter will now return to the Full Federal Court to determine ASIC’s appeal on penalties arising from earlier Federal Court proceedings against Block Earner.

In a statement on Wednesday, ASIC said it commenced civil penalty proceedings against Block Earner in November 2022, over concerns the Earner product was offered without a licence, leaving investors without important protections.

The Federal Court found in February 2024 that Block Earner had operated an unregistered managed investment scheme, but subsequently relieved the company from financial penalties in June of the same year, according to the statement.

ASIC appealed for a penalty waiver the same month, prompting a cross-appeal by Block Earner on July 9, 2024. The Full Federal Court allowed Block Earner's cross-appeal and dismissed ASIC's appeal on April 22, 2025. The High Court overturned that decision on Wednesday.

Cross-chain platform Squid has enabled instant cross-chain swaps for Ripple’s RLUSD, boosting the stablecoin’s access across several networks, including the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ethereum. This follows the stablecoin’s recent launch on Ethereum layer-2 networks through Ripple’s partnership with Wormhole.
In a blog post, Squid announced that it will power payments and interoperability for the stablecoin, enabling instant multichain movement across the XRP Ledger, Ethereum, Base, Optimism, and other networks. With this, the platform becomes the cross-chain swap and transfer layer for the stablecoin, with direct swaps from USDC, USDT, and other crypto assets to RLUSD.

By enabling instant cross-chain swaps, users will no longer need to manually bridge, wrap, or perform multi-step routing to use the Ripple stablecoin across multiple networks. This represents a major step in enabling cross-chain interoperability for the stablecoin, which is natively issued on the top layer-1 network Ethereum and the XRP Ledger.
