Strategy’s $10 billion STRC Bitcoin yield product sinks to yearly low as market demands higher payout

STRC was built to trade near $100, but its drop toward $92 is testing one of Michael Saylor’s key funding channels.Strategy’s (formerly MicroStrategy) flagship dividend-paying preferred stock is trading at its weakest level this year, pressuring one of the company’s most important tools for raising capital to buy Bitcoin.

The $10.5 billion variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, which trades under the ticker STRC, closed Tuesday at $91.79.

The settlement marked its third-lowest close since trading began in July 2025 and left the security well below the $100 level that the Michael Saylor-led firm has tried to keep it near.
Over the past year, STRC has expanded from $2.8 billion to $10.5 billion, adding $7.7 billion through at-the-market issuance. This made it one of the fastest-growing financial products in history.
So, the decline has turned STRC into a live test of investor appetite for Bitcoin-linked income products. Strategy built the instrument to offer a high dividend while giving the company another way to raise capital.
However, the market is now tacitly demanding a higher yield as Bitcoin pulls back, rival preferred stocks offer more attractive terms, and investors reassess the risks attached to Strategy’s expanding capital structure.

SkyBridge’s Anthony Scaramucci Says Bitcoin Four-Year Cycle Remains Intact, Eyes Major BTC Rally by Q4 2026 
SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci believes Bitcoin remains in a normal cyclical correction and has not broken its long-term bullish structure.

Speaking during a CNBC interview, Scaramucci argued that Bitcoin’s recent price action closely mirrors the historical four-year market cycle driven by halving events. 

After reaching a new all-time high several months following the 2024 halving, Bitcoin entered a significant correction, dropping to $59,000 before rebounding to $65,000. Nonetheless, Scaramucci maintains that the market is moving through a typical post-halving downturn rather than entering an abnormal bearish phase.

Moreover, he emphasized that the current correction has been relatively mild compared to previous bear markets. Historically, Bitcoin has declined between 60% and 70% from its peak during major downturns. By comparison, he noted that the current drawdown stands at roughly 50%, indicating stronger resilience than in prior cycles.

According to Scaramucci, growing institutional participation has helped support Bitcoin’s price. In particular, spot Bitcoin ETFs have introduced a new source of demand that previous market cycles lacked, helping to cushion the asset’s decline.

What He Claims to Have Witnessed

Lord Belgrave says he attended a strategy meeting in 2018 involving representatives from several large American banking institutions where Ripple and the XRP Ledger were explicitly discussed. According to his account, the banks understood the technology’s potential to compress settlement times and reduce the need for pre-funded liquidity well before the public conversation had even begun.

The concern inside that meeting, he claims, was not the technology itself but the speed at which an external infrastructure provider could begin influencing core payment rails that incumbent institutions depend on.

The most striking part of his account concerns what was allegedly discussed as a response strategy. “One section discussed regulatory pressure and market narrative as tools that could be used if and when Ripple’s influence reached a certain threshold,” he wrote. “The view was that if the technology became too disruptive too quickly, institutions would lean on regulatory channels to slow it down.”
