Analysts say crypto investors are wary after two prior cease-fire rallies quickly reversed, and many are waiting for the June 19 signing and this week’s Federal Reserve decision before committing.

Spot bitcoin ETFs have just emerged from four weeks of heavy outflows, suggesting institutional demand remains muted even as coins quietly move off exchanges into cold storage.

Bitcoin briefly traded above $67,000 late Monday before slipping back under $66,000 in a move that is indicative of how cautiously crypto is treating the Iran peace deal that has rallied other markets.

The token changed hands at $65,845 on Tuesday, up 0.3% over 24 hours and 4.8% on the week, per CoinDesk data. It touched a 24-hour high of $67,217 before fading. Ether held up better, rising 2.8% on the day to $1,764 and 5.8% on the week. Solana gained 3.2% to $73, XRP added 3.2% to $1.22 and Hyperliquid's HYPE led the majors again, up 6.3% to $69.

The macro backdrop turned sharply friendlier on Monday. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance signed an electronic copy of a memorandum of understanding with Iran, and Trump said the Strait of Hormuz, already partially open, will fully reopen on Friday.

Brent crude slipped below $83 a barrel after its biggest drop in more than two weeks. The S&P 500 added 1.7% on Monday and the Nasdaq 100 rose 3.1%.

Yet bitcoin has not moved like an asset pricing in relief.

"Oil dropped more than 4% and Asian equities jumped more than 3% on the ceasefire, but BTC barely budged," said Jimmy Xue, co-founder and COO of Axis, said in an emailt. He called it "a relief move that the market hasn't fully bought yet rather than clear risk-on redeployment into Bitcoin."

"You own the token and the token is the asset, you own the asset. It's different. It's what we call title tokenization," Chris Turner, co-founder of impact investment firm Kula, said on the On The Margin podcast.

Most tokenized real-world assets do not work that way. "But you don't own the asset. The asset owner owns the asset. You just got a referential or a contractual claim," Turner said. The tokenized RWA market hit about $31 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2026, and Kula's wager is that the gap between holding title and holding a claim is the thing the market skipped over. Kula VASP Limited is licensed by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius, and is running a proof of concept with asset manager Lionhart Capital to issue regulated title on chain.

Turner spent more than 20 years in international development before crypto, and he is blunt about why he left. "Earlier in my career, I kept coming across projects and business ventures or infrastructure development projects or actual full-scale aid projects that would promise the world and would deliver very little," he said. One review broke him. On about $2.2 billion of aid into a single country, "we did the assessment and we found out that only 300,000 US dollars had actually reached grassroots interventions," Turner said.

The numbers got massaged on the way up the chain, too. "By the time it's at township level, it's 75. By the time it's reported up to the regional capital, it's 150. And by the time it reaches the national capital, it's 300," he said of a project he watched serve 50 farmers. Then in 2017 he heard a shipping firm describe tracking its cargo on a blockchain. "So I listened to that and thought, okay, that's the solution to the problem that I have," Turner recalled.

Billionaire investor Chamath Palihapitiya says Bitcoin’s historical halving cycles continue to point toward significant long-term upside. While discussing Bitcoin’s past performance, he argued that each halving has been followed by a period of consolidation before a powerful expansion phase takes over.

According to Chamath, the current cycle is following a pattern that investors have seen before, with Bitcoin still moving through the post-halving phase that has historically preceded major rallies.

Bitcoin’s Halving Pattern Remains Intact

Chamath explained that Bitcoin investors often spend the first few months after a halving trying to understand the market’s new supply dynamics.

However, the biggest gains have typically come later.

“Within six months to a year and 18 months of these things, there are these crazy price appreciation cycles that happen.” He said.

Looking at previous cycles, Bitcoin gained roughly 45x after the first halving, nearly 28x after the second, and around 8x after the third over 18 months.

While returns have gradually decreased as Bitcoin has matured, the gains remain substantial compared to most traditional assets.

ETFs Add a New Variable

Chamath also pointed to a major difference in this cycle: spot Bitcoin ETFs.

“The other thing that’s happened is we’ve commercialized Bitcoin,” he said.

In his view, ETFs have opened the door for a much larger group of investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin through traditional financial markets. That additional demand did not exist during previous halving cycles.

As a result, Bitcoin now has both the historical tailwind of reduced supply and a growing institutional demand channel.
