Bitcoin Exchange Upbit Adds This Fan Token to Its Trading Alert List! Here Are the Details

Upbit, one of South Korea’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, announced that it has added the SPURS token to its “trading alert” list as part of its investor protection policies.

The exchange stated in its announcement that the decision was made in accordance with the audit processes implemented within the framework of the Digital Asset Exchanges Joint Advisory Board (DAXA).

According to the statement, reviews of the SPURS/BTC trading pair revealed that the token’s market capitalization and overall performance fell short of expectations, potentially posing risks to investors. Therefore, Upbit has temporarily placed the asset under monitoring to ensure user security.

The alert period will begin on April 16, 2026 at 17:30 and continue until July 16, 2026. During this time, the token’s status will be examined in detail, and a decision will be made on whether to continue trading support. The alert may be lifted, the period extended, or the token may be delisted entirely.

As part of the decision, deposit transactions for the SPURS token have also been temporarily suspended. Officials warned that deposits made after the specified date may not be reflected in user accounts and may be difficult to recover.

Upbit emphasized that it will continue to take steps to protect investors in line with its principles of regular auditing and transparency. Experts note that such warning decisions are generally aimed at increasing market discipline against high-risk assets.

BIP 361 forces a choice between freezing vulnerable Bitcoin and risking quantum theft, as Ethereum and Tron race to prove they have safer migration runbooks.

Bitcoin's debate about quantum computers produced a published draft with real political consequences on Apr. 14.

Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 361 (BIP 361), titled “Post Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset,” landed in Bitcoin's official proposal repository with a three-phase plan to phase out ECDSA and Schnorr signature spends entirely once a quantum-resistant output type exists on the network.

The proposal builds directly on BIP 360, published in February, which introduced a new address format that strips Taproot's quantum-vulnerable key-path spend, called Pay-to-Merkle-Root (P2MR). The proposal also preserved compatibility with Lightning, BitVM, and multi-signature setups.

Together, the two drafts constitute the most explicit governance posture Bitcoin has adopted regarding quantum migration to date.

What makes this moment sharp is the external calendar hardening around it, as NIST finalized FIPS 203, 204, and 205 in August 2024 and urged organizations to begin migrating immediately.

The UK's NCSC has set migration milestones for 2028, 2031, and 2035, while US federal agencies face a 2035 quantum-transition target.

Governments, banks, and national cyber agencies already have migration deadlines on their calendars, making blockchains late arrivals to that debate.

However, OI at $34 billion without a corresponding increase in network activity means leverage is outpacing fundamentals.

If Ethereum’s on-chain transaction volume and fee generation don’t expand alongside the price recovery, the rally lacks structural support and becomes purely a derivatives-driven phenomenon, fragile by definition.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has rapidly transformed from a mining firm into a leveraged Ethereum treasury, doubling its share count in six months and raising more than $10 billion to accumulate nearly 5% of all ether.

The company now holds 4.87 million ether at an average cost of $2,206 per token, making it the largest corporate etherholder, but it reported a $3.8 billion quarterly net loss driven by fair-value accounting and derivatives losses rather than realized losses on its ETH stake.

Bitmine's operating business has largely shifted to staking, which generated almost all of its $11 million in quarterly revenue, while general and administrative expenses have soared to $75 million for the quarter, underscoring a sharp mismatch between costs and operating income.

itmine Immersion Technologies has turned itself into the Ethereum version of Strategy, doubling its outstanding shares in six months and raising over $10 billion in equity to amass nearly 5% of all ether (ETH) in existence.

It reported a $3.8 billion quarterly net loss in Tuesday's 10-Q filing, with share count (common stock) going from 232 million to nearly 494 million between August 31 and February 28.

Additional paid-in capital jumped from $8.36 billion to $18.55 billion over the same period, and those funds went straight into ETH.

As of April 12, Bitmine held 4.87 million ether at an average cost of $2,206 per token, making it the largest corporate Ethereum treasury globally and the second-largest corporate crypto treasury behind Strategy.

Ether traded near $2,325 on Wednesday, roughly 5% above Bitmine's $2,206 average entry.
