Bitcoin’s price has fluctuated wildly since 2022.

In 2022, the cryptocurrency market experienced “crypto winter,” falling from a $1.2 trillion market cap to $319 billion. The crypto market was under a lot of strain due to events like the Terra/Luna collapse, the aggressive Fed rate hikes, and the FTX bankruptcy.

However, by 2024, the market capitalization had returned close to $2 trillion.

Thanks to the introduction of the Spot Bitcoin [BTC] and Ethereum exchange-traded funds, in 2024, the crypto market was able to pull back.
Now, in early 2026, the Middle East tensions had put further strain on the crypto market. Yet amidst such events, Bitcoin volatility stood strong, “keeping volatility broadly in line with major tech stocks.” 

Ecoinometrics noted,

Since late 2022, Bitcoin has even traded with lower volatility than Nvidia at times.

They put it aptly when they said, 

Bitcoin is no longer behaving like a market outlier.

Institutions Invest $858M in Bitcoin, XRP, and Crypto Funds This Week
Investment products tied to Bitcoin, XRP, and other digital assets attracted strong institutional demand last week, driven by improving regulatory sentiment across the market. 


According to a report from CoinShares, crypto investment products recorded more than $850 million in inflows over the past week. Notably, the latest figures marked the sixth consecutive week of positive momentum for the sector. 

The report highlighted strong investor demand for Bitcoin and XRP investment products as improving regulatory sentiment and rising market confidence fueled broader inflows across digital assets.

Key Points 

Crypto investment products extended their inflow streak to six consecutive weeks, attracting $857.9 million over the past week.

Bitcoin investment products accounted for the bulk of activity, with $706.1 million in inflows.

Ethereum, Solana, and XRP products also posted inflows of $77 million, $47 million, and $39 million, respectively.

CoinShares identified improving regulatory sentiment in the United States, particularly optimism surrounding the Clarity Act, as a key driver of the positive flows.

IRL crypto threats: Physical “wrench attacks” have led to over $100 million in losses since January alone

Crypto investors have lost more than $100 million to physical extortion in the first four months of 2026, according to blockchain security firm CertiK, as criminal groups increasingly target the people behind digital wallets rather than the technology securing them.

The attacks, known in the industry as “wrench attacks,” use kidnapping, assault, threats, or other forms of physical coercion to force victims to transfer crypto, unlock accounts, or surrender access to private keys.

The tactic has become a growing concern for an industry that has spent years building defenses against phishing, malware, smart-contract exploits, and exchange breaches.

CertiK said verified global incidents rose 41% to 34 from the same period last year. If the current pace continues, the blockchain security firm estimates the full-year count could reach about 130 incidents, with losses running into the several hundred million dollar range.

This projection means that this year's attacks are on track to exceed those of 2025, which researchers described as the most active year on record for crypto-related physical assaults.

However, security researchers and law enforcement universally acknowledge that these figures represent a fraction of the reality. The inherently traumatic nature of the crimes, combined with the victim's fear of retaliation, results in chronic underreporting.

That makes wrench attacks harder to track than on-chain exploits, where stolen funds can often be traced across wallets and exchanges in real time.
