As BTC.D gradually lost momentum, liquidity started flowing deeper into the broader altcoin market.

Adding to this, AMBCrypto had earlier reported on falling Tether [USDT] and BTC. D further reinforced this shift, signaling capital was rotating into altcoins instead of remaining concentrated in defensive assets.

That shift became clearer through 2024 and 2025 as the volume ratio steadily pushed above 0.30, signaling expanding participation beyond Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana [SOL], Ripple [XRP], and BNB.



Earlier cycles reflected similar market behavior.

During 2021, the ratio surged beyond 1.5 while Ethereum rallied near $4,800. That expansion showed speculative confidence was strengthening as traders increasingly rotated toward smaller-cap assets for higher returns.

As yellow clusters intensified, short-term altcoin volume repeatedly exceeded the yearly average.

This reinforced that capital rotation was becoming sustained rather than temporary, while broader market participation steadily deepened beneath the surface.

However, overheated conditions also increased fragility. Once liquidity tightened during 2022, the ratio collapsed below 0.20 as speculative capital rapidly retreated.

The matching engine was responsible for the largest trading stall. The matching engine processes orders and maintains order books. The system works in a distributed cluster and requires quorum before choosing a leader and conducting trades safely.

Since not all the nodes remained healthy due to the constraints in the data center during the outage, quorum could not be achieved, thereby preventing trading activities on the Retail, Advanced, and Institutional exchanges.

Rob mentioned that on-call support and engineering teams had to execute the company’s disaster recovery procedures, establish quorum, and assess system health under difficult infrastructure circumstances.

According to him, the team had to develop, test, deploy, and validate a solution while managing the broader outage. Kafka would have required extensive manual recovery because its partitioned architecture manages thousands of terabytes daily.

There were some problems with delayed balance streams because Kafka was behind. Rob stated that these issues with balances disappeared after replication became synchronized. According to Coinbase, no data was lost.

When the matching engine was back in service, markets were not re-enabled simultaneously. First, Coinbase switched all products to cancel-only mode, checked product statuses, switched all markets to auction mode, and finally, enabled trading on Coinbase Exchange.

Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok has outlined a scenario in which Ripple’s XRP could see significant valuation swings if major financial institutions adopt the XRP Ledger in place of SWIFT for cross-border transactions.

It began when one XRP community member, going by the online moniker InvestWithD, asked Grok how much transaction volume the XRP Ledger could theoretically handle if major banks adopted it for 24/7 real-time settlements.

Grok highlighted the global cross-border payments sector as a key potential growth area for XRP, estimating that total transaction flows were about $195 trillion in 2024 and could rise to roughly $320 trillion by 2032.

Despite SWIFT’s continued dominance in international banking transfers, the AI suggested that XRP could become more relevant as financial institutions increasingly adopt blockchain-based systems for faster, more seamless settlement.

Grok also indicated that any transition would likely be gradual, with banks initially testing XRP in limited use cases, such as specific corridors or liquidity channels, before potentially scaling adoption across wider segments of the global payments network.

That said, the AI suggested that, with widespread global adoption, the XRP Ledger could eventually process between $30 trillion and $150 trillion in annual transaction volume, highlighting the throughput scale often associated with large-scale institutional payment systems.

Kiyosaki traced the warning back decades in the post. “In 1974, I saw the coming of the baby boomer Retirement Disaster,” he wrote, pointing readers toward two books written for boomers and their families. The titles were “Retire Young, Retire Rich” and “Who Stole My Pension? How You Can Stop the Looting.” He said Wall Street disliked the books, while some readers had strengthened their financial position or prepared for the period he described. The renowned author predicted:

In 2026, millions of boomers will be out of work in trouble financially… many homeless.”Retirement education remained central to the message. Kiyosaki encouraged concerned readers to study the two books. He also described the brain as a person’s best God-given asset. The post treated preparation as a practical response to retirement risk, with personal knowledge serving as the starting point.

His retirement warning aligned with years of his economic collapse predictions tied to debt, inflation, and weakening retirement systems. In South Korea, cryptocurrency investors are beginning to convert their assets into cash to purchase real estate, with this trend being most prevalent among investors in their 30s.

According to data released by South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on May 10, a total of 324 homebuyers declared using proceeds from cryptocurrency sales in their home finance plans between February 10 and March 31. Of these investors, 229 were aged 30-39, representing approximately 70.7% of the total.

It was also reported that the same age group ranked first in terms of cryptocurrency sales revenue used in home purchases. The total amount of crypto-derived funds used by investors in their 30s for real estate purchases reached approximately 10.31 billion won (approximately $7.4 million).

Data shows that earnings from the crypto market are beginning to flow into the real estate sector after South Korea started reporting virtual asset sales revenue as a separate category in its housing finance plans this year.

However, it was added that crypto-sourced funds currently account for only about 0.1% of total home purchase financing, and the overall scale remains limited for now.
