Ripple’s $RLUSD Grant Shows One-Year Stablecoin Impact

Ripple published an insight on May 7 detailing how its $25 million education commitment reached classrooms across the U.S. during the first year after the original pledge. Ripple said most of the original funding was delivered in $RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, supporting DonorsChoose and Teach For America programs tied to classroom materials, teacher stipends, tutoring, and financial literacy resources.

The update focused on results from Ripple’s earlier Teacher Appreciation Week commitment rather than a new funding announcement. DonorsChoose received $15 million, helping fund 48,108 classroom projects across all 50 states. Teachers requested books, science kits, technology, and supplies directly through the platform. Ripple said 86% of funded projects served schools where more than half of the students come from low-income households. U.S.-based employees also directed $25,700 to 378 projects at 336 schools. The largest stock market in Russia, the Moscow Exchange, is going to launch futures contracts for more major cryptocurrencies in May.

The new products, based on recently announced indices for Solana ($SOL), Ripple’s $XRP and Tron ($TRX), will expand the platform’s crypto derivative offerings.

Well over 60,000 clients of the exchange have already traded such instruments since it entered the market last spring with the nod of the country’s central bank.

The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) will start trading another three cryptocurrency futures this month. The derivatives will be based on new indices for some of the largest cryptocurrencies.

The contracts for Solana, Ripple’s $XRP, and Tron will be offered exclusively to qualified investors at this point, the stock market’s operator unveiled Friday.

They will have the tickers MOEXSOL, MOEXXRP, and MOEXTRX and will be made available on May 14. The futures will be based on indices published for the first time a day earlier.

The new instruments are settlement-based and do not involve the delivery of digital currency, the exchange also noted. Settlements will be made in Russian rubles.

The Solana index futures are quoted in dollars, corresponding to the index value, with a price increment and increment value of $0.01, the announcement further detailed.

The Ripple index futures are also quoted in U.S. currency. They will have a smaller price increment of $0.0001 but the step value will be again set at $0.01.

The Tron index futures are structured similarly, with a price increment of $0.0001 and cost per increment at $0.01, according to the press release, quoted by RBC Crypto and Bits.media.

The maturity of the new futures contracts will be one month, and the last trading day will fall on the last Friday of each contract.

Aside from a few impressive but relatively brief upticks during the late 2024/early 2025 rally, Cardano’s native token has mostly underperformed in the last cycle.

While many other large-cap altcoins, alongside the market leader, managed to break their previous all-time highs last year, $ADA remained far from such a feat. Its subsequent decline was also quite painful, as it now trades over 90% below its record price seen in 2021. It’s also out of the top 10 alts by market cap, slipping to the 15th spot on CoinGecko.

However, popular analyst Ali Martinez noted that it has maintained a key level that has historically led to impressive price rallies, including one of triple digits.

The support level in question is at $0.25, according to the analyst. In early 2023, $ADA managed to rebound swiftly from it after the major correction at the time, and jumped by 85% in a relatively short period of time. Although that’s an impressive feat, the September 2023 rally of 243% was even more profound after a successful bounce from that line.

Martinez noted that the asset stands firm above that level now, currently trading $0.27 after it was rejected at $0.30 earlier this week. His short-term target is set at $0.36, while the secondary, more macro target, is all the way up to $0.53. It’s worth noting that $ADA hasn’t seen such high levels in over half a year.

Fellow analyst CW weighed in on how investors are positioning on $ADA’s futures market. They noted that there has been a notable uptick in long position net buying, which led to a minor price increase for the asset.

Moreover, CW believes $ADA’s momentum continues, and there’s no evident downside pressure yet.
