Poor Performance and Falling Stock Price Compound Troubles

The parent company of U.S. President Donald Trump's social networking service (SNS), Truth Social, has recorded a loss of approximately 600 billion won due to failed cryptocurrency investments.

On May 9 (local time), Bloomberg reported that Trump Media & Technology Group (Trump Media), the parent company of Truth Social, posted a net loss of 405.9 million dollars (about 594.8 billion won) in the first quarter of this year. The company's adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) was a loss of 387.8 million dollars (about 568.3 billion won), further widening the deficit compared to the same period last year.


The main reason for the first-quarter deficit was cited as failed cryptocurrency investments. The Guardian pointed out that Trump Media announced its intention to create a "Bitcoin Treasury" by purchasing 3.5 billion dollars (about 5.1292 trillion won) worth of Bitcoin last year, when Bitcoin prices were soaring. In particular, it was confirmed that in July of last year, the company acquired Bitcoin at an average price of 108,519 dollars per coin (about 15.903 million won).


However, at the beginning of this year, cryptocurrency prices plummeted, and Trump Media sold 2,000 Bitcoins in February when the price was below 70,000 dollars (about 10.258 million won) per coin. Trump Media explained that most of the losses were non-cash losses, mainly from unrealized losses on digital assets and stock securities, unpaid interest, and stock-based compensation.


In addition, the downward trend and a stock price crash led to the resignation of the CEO. Devin Nunes, former U.S. Representative and former CEO of Trump Media, resigned on April 22, and

115 Million XRP Withdrawn From Spot Exchanges, Is Demand Rising?According to CoinGlass data, $XRP recorded $115.02 million in spot outflows in the last 24 hours, which represents $XRP withdrawn from exchanges in the said timeframe. This exceeded spot inflows, which came in at $99.41 million, resulting in a negative net spot flow of -280.65%.

The $XRP outflow suggests that investors are removing their coins from exchanges, which suggests accumulation and long-term holding rather than short-term selling, and may be a positive indicator of demand.

This is accompanied by a rise in open interest, an indicator of open positions, which is up 3.96% in the last 24 hours to $2.96 billion, according to CoinGlass data.

The timing of the withdrawals is notable as it coincides with a surge in $XRP ETF inflows. According to Sosovalue data, $XRP saw positive daily net inflow of $6.04 million on May 8.

Increased outflows can sometimes indicate quiet accumulation by whales or institutions who might be positioning ahead of potential catalysts and hence remain significant. However, outflows can also be due to internal wallet reshuffling, custodial changes, or OTC transactions that might not necessarily reflect direct buying pressure, which adds a bit of caution to the bullish narrative.

$1B exits Arbitrum, but ARB’s price keeps climbing higher – What’s next?

Arbitrum [$ARB] extended its bullish momentum over the past 24 hours, climbing 13% even as on-chain liquidity across the network continued to deteriorate.

While the broader crypto market has recently shifted toward a stronger risk-on environment, $ARB’s rally appears increasingly disconnected from underlying liquidity conditions.

Instead of being supported by fresh capital inflows into the ecosystem, the move is largely being driven by spot market demand and short-term accumulation activity.

That divergence now places the asset in a vulnerable position as it approaches a critical supply-heavy resistance zone that could determine whether the rally sustains or reverses.

On-chain liquidity weakens despite price growth

Arbitrum’s recent price expansion has not been matched by growth in key on-chain liquidity metrics. Both Total Value Locked (TVL) and stablecoin supply across the network have continued to decline, reflecting weakening capital participation within the ecosystem.

TVL, which tracks the total amount of assets locked across decentralized finance protocols on the network, often serves as a measure of investor confidence and ecosystem activity. Sustained declines typically indicate capital rotation away from the chain.

Since tje 18th of April, approximately $449 million has exited Arbitrum’s TVL. The scale of the outflow suggests that broader market conviction around the ecosystem remains fragile despite $ARB’s recent upside.

Data also showed TVL slipping by an additional 0.24% over the past 24 hours to roughly $1.57 billion at the time of writing.

Stablecoin liquidity has followed a similar trend. Since May 1, more than $1 billion in stablecoins has reportedly moved out of the Arbitrum network, highlighting a broader reduction in deployable capital across the chain
