Bitcoin ETFs flipped from inflows to outflows 
On the 6th of May, ETF inflows fell as cumulative inflows reached $46.2 million, driven by IBIT’s $134.6 million. However, heavy outflows from FBTC, Bitwise’s BITB, Franklin Templeton’s EZBC, and Grayscale’s GBTC offset most of the gains, leaving net inflows minimal. 1The actual plot twist happened on the 7th of May when the Spot Bitcoin ETF recorded outflows worth $268.5 million. FBTC led the list with maximum outflows worth $129 million, followed by IBIT’s $98 million. 

Notably, MSBT, along with Grayscale’s BTC, recorded inflows worth $7.3 million and $5.7 million, respectively. Though outflows had dropped to $245.7 million by the end of the week, institutions were still cautious.

This is because big names like BlackRock, Fidelity, and Ark Invest all recorded outflows, whereas others recorded zero flows. Notably, it was only Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin ETF that recorded inflows worth $5.7 million.

The report further claimed Iraq later submitted a complaint to the United Nations, alleging that foreign forces conducted the air attack and suggesting U.S. involvement. However, the Journal cited a source familiar with the situation who insisted the United States did not participate in the strike against Iraqi forces. Reuters said it could not independently verify the claims made in the report. Equity markets boom – What it means for Bitcoin’s next move

The rotation into risk assets is unfolding at uneven momentum across markets.

In crypto, Bitcoin [BTC] has rallied 17% in Q2. However, the price structure still reflects consolidation rather than expansion.

From a technical view, BTC remains 35% below its $126k peak, with persistent resistance in the $80k-$85k range preventing a transition into price discovery despite improving broader risk sentiment. 

In contrast, U.S. equities are demonstrating stronger capital absorption. From a technical standpoint, the NASDAQ index has gained over 22% so far in Q2, while the S&P 500 reached a record high of 7,400 on the 8th of May.

This divergence is largely liquidity-driven, as more than $10 trillion has flowed into U.S. equities within roughly a month, reinforcing sustained upside momentum. 

Within this context, the view that equity markets are influencing Bitcoin flows gains credibility. 

Notably, capital flow data across the crypto market reinforces this dynamic. Over the same monthly period, approximately $300 billion entered digital assets, lifting the TOTAL market capitalization above $2.6 trillion.

While notable, this influx remains modest relative to equity market inflows, suggesting that liquidity dominance currently favors traditional risk assets. 

Naturally, the key question emerges: Is Bitcoin’s breakout above the $85k resistance level on hold?

The development of a sustained cycle depends on a few key factors.

The market is currently exhibiting a textbook rotation phase.

On the technical side, Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D) has logged four straight days of downside pressure after its early May breakout to 61.2%. At the same time, the Altcoin Season Index has jumped by more than 10 points in less than 24 hours, reinforcing a classic BTC-to-altcoin rotation setup.

Historically, however, altcoin rallies rarely sustain momentum unless Ethereum [ETH], the largest altcoin, starts gaining strength against Bitcoin [BTC], allowing deeper capital to flow across the broader altcoin market.
As the chart below shows, the ETH/BTC ratio has rebounded around 0.7% after four consecutive weeks of decline. This could be an early sign that rotation might be expanding beyond Bitcoin. 
In short, several signals may be lining up for the market to start speculating on an altcoin rally.

That said, momentum remains the key variable. During the previous February-April cycle, the ETH/BTC ratio jumped by nearly 15%, pushing the Altcoin Season Index up more than 40% before topping near 55. This aligned with the BTC.D running into resistance around the 60%-level, creating a similar rotation narrative.

And yet, despite the improving structure, the setup never evolved into a full-blown altcoin cycle. The Altcoin Season Index failed to break above the 75-threshold typically required to confirm broad, market-wide altcoin expansion.

This raises the key question – Is the market simply entering another short-lived rotation phase, or is this setup fundamentally different?

After SEI’s aggressive expansion toward the $0.0694 resistance, momentum gradually shifted into a controlled retracement phase. Price initially faced sharp rejection near $0.0694 before retracing toward the 38.2% Fibonacci support around $0.0657.

This zone now acts as the market’s immediate strength test because strong bullish structures usually defend shallow pullbacks quickly.

If buyers maintain control above $0.0657, momentum may rebuild toward another retest of the $0.0694 high. A successful breakout there could expose it toward the psychological $0.080 region.

Meanwhile, RSI cooled toward 55.85 after previously entering overbought territory above 70, helping reset momentum conditions. CMF also remained positive near 0.12, signaling capital still flows into the token despite profit-taking pressure.

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has seen its dominance in the DeFi market fall to around 54%, down from 63.5% earlier this year, as competing blockchains continue capturing a larger share of the crypto ecosystem.

According to DeFiLlama data, Ethereum's share of total DeFi TVL dropped from 63.5% at the start of 2025 to roughly 54% this month, marking one of the network's weakest dominance levels in years.

DeFiLlama currently values Ethereum's total value locked at approximately $45.4 billion, far ahead of most competing blockchains.
