Select major altcoins have turned down from their overhead resistance levels, indicating that the bears remain in control.
Bitcoin’s ($BTC) recovery above $82,000 on Thursday was short-lived, as bears sold at higher levels and pulled the price back to the $79,000 level. Glassnode said in its Week On-chain report that several investors bought $BTC between November 2025 and February near the $86,900 level. These holders may sell near their entry price after experiencing large drawdowns, creating a barrier for $BTC’s continued rally.

Another negative view came from crypto analytics firm CryptoQuant, which said in a recent report that $BTC has hit its major resistance at the 200-day moving average near $82,400. In 2022, $BTC had resumed its downtrend after failing to cross above the 200-day SMA. $BTC may get into trouble if history repeats itself.

In a bear phase, it is not uncommon for the price to hit a wall at the major resistance and pull back. However, a positive sign in favor of the bulls is that they have not allowed the price to dip back below the short-term breakout level of $76,000. That suggests the bulls are not hurrying to close their positions as they anticipate another leg higher.

DOGE is sitting in a compressed consolidation zone with the technical structure pointing cautiously higher.

Immediate resistance stacks at $0.1147, $0.1166, and $0.1190. Support floors sit at $0.1104, $0.1080, and $0.1061.

A clean break above $0.1190 would represent a meaningful technical shift that has not materialized yet but looks increasingly plausible if volume holds. CoinCheckup’s longer-range projection reaches $0.1333 by June 14, modest upside on a 12-month horizon but directionally bullish given the current base.

Clear $0.1190 on sustained volume and DOGE eyes $0.1244 resistance next, building toward the $0.13 target range.

Fail to break it, and consolidation continues between $0.1104 and $0.1166, weekly target acting as the near-term ceiling. Lose $0.1061 on a daily close, and the structure resets, opening the door to a retest of sub-$0.10 territory.

For years, decentralized finance sold itself on a simple promise: code is law. Smart contracts, immutable and transparent, would remove the human weaknesses that plague traditional finance.

But the $293 million KelpDAO exploit that occurred last month exposed an uncomfortable reality for crypto’s infrastructure builders: the industry’s biggest vulnerabilities increasingly have little to do with the smart contracts themselves.

Instead, the danger now lies in the sprawling web of bridges, governance systems, operational security and third-party dependencies that sit around the code, the messy human and infrastructural layer underpinning modern DeFi.

“The contracts in most of these cases did exactly what their authors told them to do,” said Eugene Mamin, the chief technical master at Lido Labs Foundation, to CoinDesk. “The authors just weren’t the legitimate people in that case.”

The KelpDAO exploit, linked to a vulnerability involving LayerZero’s bridge infrastructure, is becoming a defining moment for a DeFi industry wrestling with its own maturity.

For protocol founders and security researchers, the incident reinforced a broader shift underway across crypto: DeFi is no longer primarily battling coding bugs. It’s battling its own complexity.

In DeFi’s early years, exploits typically stemmed from flaws in smart contract code, reentrancy bugs, oracle manipulation or faulty logic. Today, many of the industry’s largest failures happen somewhere else entirely.

“Smart contract risk is largely a solved problem,” said Sam MacPherson, CEO of Phoenix Labs, the developer behind decentralized finance platform Spark. “Recently, all the hacks have been from bad operational security.”
