Arc, Canton and Tempo, three blockchains focused on stablecoins and tokenization, have raised more than $1 billion combined, highlighting rising institutional demand for privacy-focused crypto infrastructure, according to Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan.

Stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) recently raised $222 million at a $3 billion valuation for Arc, while Digital Asset is reportedly raising $300 million at a $2 billion valuation for the Canton blockchain. Tempo, backed by Stripe and Paradigm, previously raised $500 million at a $5 billion valuation.

In a Tuesday blog post, Hougan said the fundraising wave reflects three trends: clearer U.S. regulation, growing demand for private blockchain transactions and rising competition from corporate-backed crypto networks.

Blockchains have long faced a trade-off between speed, cost and security: faster, cheaper networks often make compromises on decentralization or resilience, while more secure chains can be slower and more expensive to use.

France’s central banker Beau clashes with Lagarde over private digital euro plansFrance’s central bank deputy governor called Tuesday for the "mobilization of all relevant European players, public and private,” to develop tokenized money.

Beau’s comments are in stark contrast with European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde’s recent speech in which she said that “the case for promoting euro-denominated stablecoins is far weaker than it appears.”

While Lagarde described the $310 billion privately-issued stablecoin market, currently dominated by Tether’s $USDT and Circle’s $USDC, as instruments that “risk amplifying the very vulnerabilities we are trying to overcome,” Beau told CoinDesk that private sector solutions are necessary for the region’s economic development.

The different views, however, reveal a growing concern in Europe over the “digital dollarization.” With a stablecoin sector projected to rise to the trillions of dollars in the coming years, a lack of euro-pegged currencies could force European capital into dollar-backed assets, potentially eroding the euro’s global influence and monetary sovereignty.

Despite a strong rally in January, Canton [CC] has not exhibited a sustained higher timeframe price trend. This could be changing after the altcoin challenged a local resistance zone with strong short-term momentum.

Canton has rallied 4.57% in the past 24 hours and was up 7.2% over the past week. The gains came after 21Shares, a leading cryptocurrency exchange-traded product (ETP) provider, announced the launch of the Canton Network ETF (TCAN) on Nasdaq.

The announcement came on Thursday, the 7th of May. It is the first ETF that offers investors direct exposure to CC. Andres Valencia, EVP of investment management at 21Shares, said,

The Canton Network has attracted significant institutional interest given its focus on privacy-preserving infrastructure for capital markets.

The rally in the past week was a good show of bullish pressure, but is it enough to sustain an uptrend in the coming weeks?

The altcoin was in a long-term uptrend at the start of the year, but the momentum has given way to a sideways movement around $0.15. This range formation (purple) between $0.14 and $0.158 has been in place since March.

The midpoint level at $0.149 coincided with the psychological $0.15 round number level and has acted as both support and resistance in recent months.

At the time of writing, the Canton Network token appeared to have breached the upper range limit. The MACD crept up above the zero line to signal upward momentum.

The daily trading volume was nearly double the 20-day moving average during the breakout, which was a positive sign of bullish conviction. Yet, the A/D indicator continued to fall, suggesting bearish pressure.

The lower timeframes showed a more encouraging volume trend. The A/D indicator was climbing higher, and Spot trading volumes were above average recently, as was the momentum.

What comes next, however, depends entirely on whether Bitcoin bulls can defend the price ground the cryptocurrency has just claimed and two important price levels.

The $78,000 Floor That Must Hold
TradingView data shows that Bitcoin registered a weekly close of $82,210 against Tether on Sunday, May 10, confirming that the break above $80,000 was not just an intraday reclaim of the psychological level.

However, the zone between $78,000 and $80,000 was not simply a range that Bitcoin traded through. Technical analysis of the daily candlestick price chart shows that it was a bearish order block, a supply area where sellers had previously overwhelmed buyers repeatedly.

This makes $78,000 the level bulls may need to defend if the breakout is going to stay valid. A clean hold above this area would suggest that the former bearish order block has flipped into support, giving BTC a stronger base for another attempt at higher levels.

The next level is the current lower-high area around $82,000. CryptoPatel’s chart shows Bitcoin trading around this zone after reclaiming the $78,000 to $80,000 order block, and this is where the market could either confirm continuation or form another short-term rejection.

A clean break above $82,000 would open the door for Bitcoin to move higher. In that case, the next likely target becomes the $90,000 bearish order block.

Crypto market sentiment stable ahead of US CPI report

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is expected to release the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for April on Tuesday. This is the primary inflation indicator in the United States (US), measuring the average change in prices of goods and services, including food, housing and transportation over time.

The CPI in March came in hotter than expected, with headline inflation at 3.3% YoY, up from 2.4% in February during the same period. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the core CPI rose to 2.6% YoY in March, up from the previous 2.5%. Markets expect CPI to rise year-on-year by 3.7% in April, while the core reading is forecast at 2.7%.

Softer inflation data could raise optimism for interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve (Fed) in 2026. That said, escalating tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East have triggered a global surge in oil prices, materially heightening the probability of inflation printing above expectations.

Turning to risk appetite, market sentiment remains steady, as reflected by the Crypto Fear & Greed Index rising to 49 in the fear territory on Tuesday, up from 48 the previous day.

The e-commerce giant has yet to put out a release confirming the bond sale. "The Swiss market continues to offer steady demand for high-grade names and a strong bid for familiar US corporate issuers," said Apostolos Bantis, a managing director of fixed income at Union Bancaire Privee Ubp SA. "Issuing several maturities at once also lets borrowers tap different investor pockets, raise more money, and keep concessions tight while the window remains open," Bantis added.
