U.S. Treasury yields rose to 12-month highs on Friday as traders increasingly bet that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates higher for longer and may need to raise rates further if inflation pressures intensify. Bitcoin meanwhile continues to trade below its 200-day average.

The two-year yield, which is particularly sensitive to expectations around Fed policy, rose to 4.05% during Friday's Asian trading hours, the level last seen in June 2025. It has climbed 13 basis points this week alone and more than 65 basis points since March.

The benchmark 10-year yield jumped to 4.5%, also the highest since May last year.

This week’s hotter-than-expected U.S. CPI and PPI reports for April have raised concerns that inflation could remain stubbornly high as rising energy prices and escalating geopolitical tensions linked to the Iran conflict continue to ripple through the global economy.

As inflation fears build, markets are rapidly reassessing the outlook for U.S. monetary policy. With the Fed funds rate currently in the 3.50%–3.75% range, the move in the two-year yield suggests investors are beginning to price in at least one additional 25-basis-point hike.

According to CME’s FedWatch tool, investors are now pricing in more than a 44% probability of a rate hike in December, compared with just 22.5% a week ago. At the start of the year, traders had expected at least two rate cuts before the end of 2026.

The rising bond yields are at odds with President Donald Trump's bias for low rates. Trump has repeatedly argued for much deeper cuts, calling for borrowing costs to fall as low as 1% in an effort to support growth. However, under Chair Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve has largely resisted political pressure and maintained rates steady at around 3.5%.

Layer 1 blockchain Sei (SEI) has officially joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program, the project announced on its official X account. The program is designed to help blockchain, stablecoin, and Web3 companies build real-world payment, remittance, and settlement infrastructure by linking with Mastercard’s global payment network.

What the Partnership Entails

Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program is an industry collaboration platform that connects select blockchain and digital asset firms with the company’s payment infrastructure. For Sei, this means access to Mastercard’s network of financial institutions, technology partners, and regulatory expertise. The goal is to explore how Sei’s high-speed, low-cost blockchain can support payment flows, cross-border remittances, and settlement systems that meet traditional financial standards.

Sei is a Layer 1 blockchain built for trading and financial applications, designed to process transactions in under one second. SHIB price has been grinding inside a rising channel since the February lows near $0.0000052, and the 0.5 Fib at $0.0000648 is where that grind keeps running into a wall. The pink resistance band around that level has rejected every meaningful push through April and into May. Below price, the 0.382 Fib near $0.0000622 is the first support, followed by the channel base around $0.0000550.

Above the 0.5 Fib, two FVG zones stack between $0.0000700 and $0.0000785, with the 0.618 Fib at $0.0000681 sitting in between. Those levels become relevant only after a clean daily close above $0.0000648, which has not happened yet.

The Clarity Act cleared the Senate Banking Committee 15 to 9 on Thursday, sending Bitcoin above $82,000 for the first time in weeks.

The Clarity Act advanced out of the Senate Banking Committee on Thursday in a 15 to 9 bipartisan vote, clearing a critical legislative gate for the most significant crypto market structure bill in US history. Bitcoin ($BTC) climbed above $82,000 following the vote before retreating slightly to around $81,500, up approximately 2.5% on the day.

Two Democratic senators crossed the aisle to back the bill alongside all 13 Republicans on the committee. Chairman Tim Scott had described securing all 13 Republican votes as “the red zone,” with Senator John Kennedy having withheld support in the days leading up to the session.

Cody Carbone, who heads the Digital Chamber, told reporters the unresolved ethics provision around lawmakers trading crypto tokens remains the most likely obstacle before a floor vote. “I imagine the deal will be completed before this goes to the floor, because they’ll want to only bring it to the floor if they feel confident they’ve got 60,” Carbone said.The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which already passed the House 294 to 134 in July 2025, would draw a statutory line between the SEC and the CFTC. Digital commodities would fall under CFTC oversight and digital securities would remain under the SEC, ending years of regulatory uncertainty that has suppressed institutional flows into US crypto markets.

The bill still needs 60 votes on the Senate floor, reconciliation with the Senate Agriculture Committee version, and alignment with the House text before reaching the president’s desk.
