Bitcoin (BTC) is showing renewed strength after climbing above $73,000, with market sentiment shifting back in favor of the bulls. The recent move has sparked growing speculation that BTC could be on track to retest the $80,000 level in the near term.
From a technical perspective, Bitcoin has broken out of a previously bearish “pennant” structure and reclaimed key moving averages, including the 20-day, 50-day, and 200-week EMAs. This breakout is often seen as a sign that downside pressure is fading while momentum is rebuilding on the upside.
If the broader pattern plays out as a symmetrical triangle breakout, the measured move could theoretically extend toward $87,000. However, the $75,000 level now stands as an immediate resistance zone that could trigger short-term consolidation or pullbacks before any further rally.
On-chain data, however, suggests a more cautious outlook around the $78,000–$80,000 region. According to Glassnode metrics, this area represents a significant concentration of investor cost basis, meaning many holders may look to take profits near breakeven. This creates a potential supply-heavy zone that could slow momentum.
In simple terms, while technical indicators point to continued upside potential, on-chain structure highlights $80K as a critical “stress zone” where selling pressure may intensify.

I've been keeping an eye on this because it feels like another chapter in the endless tug of war between the West and Iran. You know, we're in April 2026, and tensions are still sky high after all those proxy conflicts and sanctions. Vance who no stranger to tough talk on foreign policy, didn't mince words it's like Iran drew a line in the sand and dared everyone to cross it.What strikes me most is how this plays into the bigger picture with the Middle East. Pakistan hosting the talks in Islamabad was supposed to be this neutral ground right? Neutral like Switzerland or something, but clearly that didn't pan out. I remember reading about the agenda nuclear stuff regional stability maybe even some economic carrots from the US side. But if Vance is right, Iran just flat out rejected it. Makes you wonder what their game is. Are they banking on Russia or China to back them up or is this pure defiance to rally the home crowd? Either way it's frustrating because it pushes us closer to escalation.From where I sit in Nashik watching this unfold feels distant yet oddly relevant. Crypto markets dipped a bit today Sunday morning here 10 AM IST and I'm betting some of that was traders spooked by geopolitical noise like this. Bitcoin hovering around those levels we saw last week but anything that smells like war talk shakes things up. Bitcoin fell as low as $70,623 on Sunday after the US announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following failed peace talks with Iran.

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) initially fell 1.9% to $71,686 after US President Donald Trump confirmed the blockade in a post to Truth Social on Sunday, adding that peace talks collapsed because Iran refused to end its nuclear program — the only issue that “really mattered.”

Bitcoin dipped further to $70,623 as the US futures markets opened late on Sunday, with oil shooting up 9.5% to $105 per barrel within half an hour of the market open, with Bitcoin down 2.7% over the day at the time of writing.

The US-Iran dispute over control of the Strait of Hormuz — which handles one-fifth of global oil trade — has caused significant disruption in the financial markets over the past six weeks, particularly in oil markets, which have experienced their highest volatility since Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022.

In addition to the ceasefire announced on Tuesday, Iran wanted the US to pay for war reparations and to unfreeze blocked Iranian financial assets.

Trump didn’t directly address those requests in the Truth Social post, instead blaming the fallout on Iran’s reluctance to end its nuclear weapons program.

He also labeled Iran’s use of mines on the waterway and demands for tolls as “world extortion,” ordering the US Navy to block any vessels that paid Iran and to destroy the mines.

Despite the conflict, Bitcoin has risen about 7.4% to $71,194 since the US-Iran conflict started on Feb. 28, when a US airstrike killed Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Similar patterns were seen in the ETF market, though altcoins showed mixed momentum, reflecting varied institutional investor sentiment over the past week.

Spot Bitcoin ETF analysis

Last week started with the cumulative Spot Bitcoin [BTC] ETF recording $471.4 million in inflows, in which BlackRock’s IBIT recorded the highest inflow worth $181.9 million, followed by Fidelity’s FBTC with $147.3 million.

Ark Invest’s ARKB also saw inflows worth $118.8 million, whereas Grayscale recorded inflows worth $17.6 million. Meanwhile, others recorded minimal to zero flows.

However, on the 7th of April, Bitcoin ETFs saw outflows worth $159.1 million, in which Fidelity’s FBTC recorded the maximum outflows worth $47.8 million. Following the trail was Grayscale’s GBTC, which recorded $41.9 million in outflows, whereas BlackRock’s IBIT saw $17.1 million flowing out.

Even on the 8th of April, when the ceasefire was announced, the outflows continued, with the cumulative BTC ETF recording $93.9 million in outflows. On this day, only Fidelity’s FBTC, Ark Invest’s ARKB, and Grayscale’s GBTC recorded outflows worth $79.1 million, $74.7 million, and $11.1 million, respectively. 

All other ETFs recorded inflows, with IBIT leading at $40.4 million. Interestingly, things changed on the 9th and 10th of April, wherein $358.1 million and $240.2 million, respectively, flowed into the BTC ETFs. On both these days, IBIT received maximum inflows worth $269.3 million and $137.6 million, respectively. Whereas Grayscale’s GBTC recorded zero flows on both days.

According to leading on-chain metrics provider Santiment, the 100 largest Toncoin whales have been on a buying spree, amassing 189,730 coins over 3 months.

Why is this the case? Well, Toncoin has shed two-thirds of its market value since reaching a local high in August 2025. Presently, TON is the 28th-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, and the current accumulation trend suggests that long-term conviction among the bigger players remains intact.

Historically, sustained whale accumulation even during periods of prolonged decline usually shows that sharp relief rallies might be on the horizon.

Therefore, if uncertainty in the broader crypto market eases, Toncoin stands to benefit from diminishing selling pressure and intensified accumulation among whales, with TON presently trading at $1.45 per coin, according to CoinMarketCap data.

In the $31 trillion US Treasury market, investors are most concerned that rising energy costs will exacerbate already high price pressures, thus delaying interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Traders and strategists at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), Brandywine Global Investment Management, and Natixis North America are bracing for persistently high yields—many saying they are reluctant to make significant adjustments to their asset allocations until they have a clearer picture of the inflation outlook.

US inflation data released last Friday for March showed that consumer prices rose by the largest month-on-month since 2022. This pushed the 10-year Treasury yield above 4.3% and prompted traders to reduce their bets on rate cuts this year. After the weekend's negotiations broke down and Trump ordered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the yield rose another 3 basis points on Monday to 4.35%.

 “The pendulum has definitely swung back to inflation,” said John Briggs, head of U.S. interest rate strategy at Natixis. “The job market is stable at best, and not particularly active structurally, but inflation is the real issue on the table right now.”

This shift highlights a rapid change in the market narrative: with oil prices well above pre-conflict levels, inflation has become undeniable. For many investors—who also have to contend with the possibility that a prolonged conflict could ultimately drag down economic growth—the more pressing question is how long rising energy costs will continue to affect consumer prices.

The grand narrative of expanding AI infrastructure in the United States is facing a severe test in reality.

According to Sightline Climate's latest "Data Center Outlook 2026" report, of the approximately 16 gigawatts of data center capacity planned for addition in the US this year, 30% to 50% are expected to face delays or cancellations, with only about 5 gigawatts currently under construction.


This figure stands in stark contrast to the over $700 billion annual capital expenditure budget of hyperscale cloud computing companies, revealing deep-seated difficulties in AI infrastructure construction at the levels of power supply, supply chain, and socio-political issues.

Canaccord Genuity analyst George Gianarikas summarizes this situation as "the US data center boom hitting a powerful logistical wall." According to Bloomberg, a severe shortage of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and batteries is one of the main reasons for the delays; domestic manufacturing capacity is far from sufficient to meet demand, forcing developers to rely on imports. At the same time, community opposition, licensing hurdles, and lagging grid integration are collectively reducing the feasibility of project implementation.

 The supply-demand gap is alarming, and the outlook is even bleaker after 2027.

A Sightline Climate report shows that in 2026, 140 data center projects with a total capacity of approximately 16 gigawatts (GW) are planned to be operational in the US. Of these, 53% will be connected to the grid, 3% will rely on their own power sources, and the remaining 25% have not yet disclosed their power supply plans.

However, of these 16 GW of planned capacity, 11 GW remain in the "announcement stage," with no signs of construction—while the typical construction cycle for data centers is 12 to 18 months, meaning the likelihood of this capacity being completed
