And now it says it can thrive even if the sanctions it was designed to circumvent disappear entirely.

That’s a bold claim for a token that just got hit by the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, the EU, and the UK in rapid succession. But A7A5’s pitch to Russian businesses has shifted: it’s no longer just about dodging Western restrictions. It’s positioning itself as permanent infrastructure for non-dollar trade settlement.

A7A5 was built to solve a very practical problem: Russian companies couldn’t move money across borders efficiently because most international payment rails run through Western banks that won’t touch sanctioned entities. Issued by Kyrgyzstani firm Old Vector LLC and backed by reserves held at Promsvyazbank, a sanctioned Russian bank, the token gave businesses a way to settle trades in rubles on blockchain rails. Primarily operating on Tron and Ethereum, it found an audience fast.

By late 2025, the stablecoin had become a key settlement medium for Russian trade with China, Southeast Asia, and Iran. Trading volume concentrated heavily against $USDT on the Grinex exchange, creating a ruble-to-dollar-stablecoin corridor that bypassed traditional banking infrastructure entirely.

On August 14, 2025, OFAC sanctioned A7A5 and its associated entities, citing facilitation of sanctions evasion and illegal financial activities. The EU followed with its own ban on October 23, 2025. The UK piled on as well.

What the executive order actually does
The May 1 executive order targets any foreign person dealing in core sectors of the Cuban economy, including energy and financial services, with potential secondary sanctions. If you’re a German shipping company or a French logistics giant moving cargo through Cuban ports, you’re now in Washington’s crosshairs.

The order also designated GAESA, the Cuban military conglomerate, as a blocked entity on May 7. GAESA controls over 40% of the country’s GDP and is deeply embedded in the nation’s logistics infrastructure, from ports to warehouses to distribution networks.

Foreign firms have been given until June 5, 2026, to cease all transactions involving GAESA or face potential secondary sanctions.

Why this matters beyond shipping
Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM together handle up to 60% of Cuba’s shipping traffic by volume. Cuba imports the vast majority of its food, fuel, and consumer goods, much of it arriving from China and Europe aboard container vessels operated by exactly these kinds of global shipping lines.

Dogecoin’s [$DOGE] price has been in a constant downtrend since last year’s September. However, the memecoin is starting to show signs of reversal.

Capital inflows from all traders are increasing even though greedy retailers are struggling.

Dogecoin accumulation is on. For context, a newly created wallet has opened a 20 million $DOGE position with 10x leverage. The order is worth more than $2.25 million but is sitting at a loss of more than $60K at press time.

The position was entered at around $0.1134 with a liquidation price of $0.1028.

Additionally, more money is flowing into spot Dogecoin ETFs. Over the last eight days, half of them have experienced positive net inflows. In total, more than $1.30 million has flowed into the memecoin in May.

These inflows have shattered extended periods of inactivity for Dogecoin ETFs. They still hold less than 0.1% of the memecoin’s market cap.

However, these figures are small compared to other traditional and crypto ETFs. This suggests $DOGE ETFs are still a long way from convincing traditional investors.

The data shows early capital inflows even though liquidity remains thin.

From a broader perspective, the whales’ positions are increasing while those of retailers are declining.

Dogecoin’s Whales vs. Retail Delta has increased from around 0.20 to almost 0.60. This suggests whales were buying as Dogecoin was declining. On the other hand, long positions held by retailers were getting liquidated.

This behavior was synchronized across other altcoins like Solana [SOL], Ripple [XRP], and Filecoin [FIL].

The bullish signals are overwhelming the bearish ones. Hence, the price action appears to be shaping up for a reversal.

THORChain has confirmed a $10 million exploit and launched a recovery portal, giving affected users a self-custodial path to revoke malicious token approvals and submit refund claims backed by a treasury-provisioned refund pool of equal size.

In a Saturday post on X, THORChain Foundation introduced the recovery portal, saying that “affected users are now able to check what they will be paid as compensation following the exploit.”

The portal, citing a PeckShield post-mortem, claims that the attack was detected at 02:14 UTC on May 11, when node operators flagged anomalous outbound transactions. Trading and outbound signing were paused within eight minutes. In total, attackers drained 36.75 BTC, worth around $3 million, and approximately $7 million in tokens across BNB Chain, Ethereum and Base, hitting 12,847 wallets across four chainsAffected users have 21 days to submit claims. The refund window closes on June 4, after which any unclaimed allocation rolls over to the protocol’s insurance fund.
