Stablecoins can help businesses turn costs into revenue, Paxos Labs cofounder says

Stablecoins, the $300 billion class of digital dollars, may have started as a faster way to move money across the globe, but companies are now asking a different question: what can they actually do with them?

That shift is driving a new phase of adoption, according to Chunda McCain, co-founder of Paxos Labs, who says the industry is moving beyond basic infrastructure toward real business use cases.

"The first step was getting a stablecoin," McCain said in an interview with CoinDesk. "The next question is: what now?"

Last week, Paxos Labs underscored that direction by raising $12 million in a strategic funding round led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from Robot Ventures, Maelstrom and Uniswap. The lab unit was incubated under Paxos, the New York-based digital asset firm behind popular stablecoins such as PayPal's $PYUSD ($PYUSD) and the Global Dollar (USDG). Paxos itself builds stablecoins and the immediate underlying infrastructure, while Paxos Labs intends to build tooling for further use of those stablecoins.

With the fresh funds, Paxos Labs is building what it calls a "financial utility stack" that lets companies turn digital assets into products through a single integration.

Its newly launched Amplify Suite bundles three core tools: Earn, which offers yield on digital assets; Borrow, which enables lending against them; and Mint, which supports branded stablecoin issuance. The idea behind that is to let firms integrate tokens into a business, then layer on capabilities over time.

A 14% price jump in Ethena [$ENA] has pushed the asset toward a key resistance level with a history of reversals.

Despite this make-or-break zone, experts’ bold projections and rising accumulation among the top 100 holders suggest that $ENA could potentially break above this prolonged barrier this time.

As of this writing, $ENA was up 14.22% over the past 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.123.

With the rising price, market participants have shown notable interest in the asset, as trading volume climbed 72% to $283.55 million during the same period.

Ethena approaches key resistance

On the daily chart, $ENA appears bullish, as it has recently broken out of a descending channel pattern. However, due to the key resistance at $0.1345, the price seems to be struggling to continue its rally.

The daily chart shows that $ENA has been facing this resistance since the beginning of February 2026.

The current price action suggests that if $ENA successfully breaks above this key level, it could potentially see a price jump of over 45% and reach the $0.198 level.

However, if it fails to do so, the possibility of a significant decline could arise.

At press time, technical indicators Money Flow Index (MFI) and Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) were at 86.01 and -0.02, respectively, indicating that the asset was in an overbought zone with weakening capital inflows.

This points to a potential slowdown or short-term correction in price momentum.

Analysts note that markets quickly repriced risk assets as geopolitical tensions eased, even temporarily.
However, the situation remains fragile. Reports indicate that vessel movement through the Strait is still tightly controlled, requiring authorization from Iranian authorities and restricted transit through designated safe lanes. At the same time, U.S. sanctions and shipping restrictions remain in place, leaving the broader dispute unresolved.
By April 18, Iran reportedly re-imposed closure measures after diplomatic progress stalled, pushing markets back into uncertainty ahead of the April 22 ceasefire deadline.
Despite the brief reopening, only eight oil and gas tankers were able to pass through, highlighting how far the region remains from normal shipping conditions.
Overall, the situation continues to keep markets highly sensitive, with energy prices, risk assets, and crypto all reacting sharply to geopolitical headlines. 🚢📉📈

As investor focus moves to riskier assets, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw net inflows of over $1 billion last week, their best performance in over three months. Last week, spot Bitcoin ETFs received $996 million in net inflows, according to data from SoSoValue. This is the greatest weekly intake since early January, when inflows hit over $1.4 billion.

The week’s best single-day result came on Friday, with inflows of $663.9 million. Gains for the previous three days were $411.5 million, $186 million, and a more modest $26 million. A $291 million withdrawal was made on Monday to start the term.

By Friday, the combined net assets of all spot Bitcoin ETFs had surpassed $101 billion, and trading activity had surged, with daily volumes approaching $4.8 billion.

De-Escalation of Global Tensions

Markets are starting to price in the evolution of global tensions instead of assuming they will remain static, say crypto experts. Traditional safe havens, such as the US dollar, have had their demand eroded due to signs of de-escalation, especially in US-Iran ties.

The analyst went on to say that the Fed is still being conservative, so there isn’t much hope for rate decreases. Contrarily, faith in conventional “risk-free” assets is beginning to erode due to worries about the demand for US debt and high long-term returns. This has added to the dollar’s woes, which has bolstered investment in Bitcoin and other alternative assets.
