Ripple boosts blockchain education in Asia Pacific
Ripple is significantly expanding its global blockchain education campaign, announcing over $5 million in new funding earmarked for universities in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
This strategic investment, channeled through Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), is targeted at key academic institutions in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia.
This significant funding is in line with the company’s broader strategy to develop talent and foster innovation in regions with strong interest in digital finance. APAC is rapidly emerging as a global leader in fintech, characterized by a high density of new banks, a forward-thinking regulatory environment, and vibrant developer communities. According to Ripple, these factors place the region ideally positioned to lead the way in blockchain research and adoption.
Strengthening and expanding key partnerships with universities
Ripple is deepening its relationships with existing partners while creating new alliances:
South Korea: A six-year agreement worth $1.1 million will extend collaboration with Korea University.
Japan: New funding will support both Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo, the latter of which has already received over $1.5 million from UBRI.
Singapore : Over $3 million has been allocated to Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore to support academic research in the region and expand blockchain education. Professor Yan Liu from Nanyang Technological University shared his enthusiasm for their work on developing an autonomous network of AI agents on the XRP Ledger to create a transparent and collaborative AI platform.
Taiwan : National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology joins the UBRI network with a new partnership focused on tokenization of real-world assets. Future research will focus on technical frameworks and regulatory implications, as well as exploring the XRP Ledger’s interoperability with Ethereum and Solana and ways to accelerate institutional adoption through improved infrastructure. Australia : Ripple is strengthening its ties with the Australian National University and launching a new partnership with Victoria University. A total of $1.3 million will support legal and policy research in the areas of blockchain, digital payments, and decentralized systems, including research on platforms like Evernode.
The latest round of funding underscores Ripple’s commitment to supporting the next generation of blockchain innovators and strengthening APAC’s position at the forefront of the digital economy.
